SNEAK PREVIEW: The Twits at The Rose Theatre, Kingston – Wed 5 to Sun 16 April
You can’t beat the classics, especially a Roald Dahl one. And what kid doesn’t love a revolting tale? The Twits is on at the Rose Theatre in Kingston at Easter, and we here are Muddy Surrey got our hands on a sneak preview. This version is directed by Max Webster, who also did The Lorax at the Old Vic so it’s got great creds. Check this out…
EARLY SHOUT OUT: The Little Welly Goes Wild – Norbury Park – May 13 & 14
The event for small (aged four and over) people and their families, and it sells out waaay in advance every year so here’s your early shout out. It’s an epic obstacle course of 30 individual challenges over 3km of streams, woodland and mud near Box Hill, held in conjunction with the Surrey Wildlife Trust. The washing won’t be pretty but you’ll have a blast getting muddy. If you miss out on tickets for the Surrey version, there are also events in Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.
JUST ANNOUNCED: James Morrison plays Hampton Court Palace Festival – Thurs 8 June
James Morrison has been confirmed in the line-up for the Hampton Court Palace Festival this summer. This year’s festival – the 25th – is on from 8 to 24 June at the Base Court, one of the Palace’s open-air Tudor courtyards. Also in the line-up are Bryan Ferry, Will Young, Rick Astley, Corrine Bailey Rae, Van Morrison and Jools Holland, among others. James Morrison will play on Thurs 8 June, coming directly from his sold-out UK tour. He’ll perform songs from his latest album ‘Awakening’ and his favourite hits.
BOOK NOW: Little Mix summer shows
Tickets are on sale people! They’re playing 130 shows around the country, including Twickenham on June 25, and the O2 in London in October and November. Yeah yeah, these young girls keep forgetting to put their clothes on and what kind of role model are they for our daughters yadayada, BUT may I just remind you that we grew up with Madonna?! Grit your teeth, let your daughter splatter her face in make-up an sing along to Shout Out to My Ex. You’ll love it!
OPENING SOON: The Ivy opens in Cobham in May
Legendary London restaurant The Ivy is coming to the sticks! (*thud*) A branch of the celeb-magnet hotspot opens in Cobham in May, adding a dash of glamour to Cobham’s high street. There you will find Muddy at her regular table, scoffing the shepherd’s pie signature dish, sharing bons mots with Angelina Jolie and Brian Blessed. Come and join me if you think your liver is hard enough.
