Chopping Chillies – Electric Theatre, Guildford – Fri 24 March

Written and performed by Clair Whitefield and directed by Olivier Award-winner Guy Masterson, Chopping Chillies was a hit at Edinburgh Festival last year. It’s a tale of love, loss and soul food about a cobbler and a cook, Katie and Ajna. Katie dreams of curries and Chapattis; Anja of hoy souls and reincarnation. Sounds like fun. Tickets are £14.

John Minton and the Romantic Tradition – The Lightbox, Woking – 28 Jan to 9 Mar

The exhibition explores the works of John Minton and his contemporaries in the Neo-Romantic movement of the 1930s and 1940s, including Graham Sutherland, Michael Ayrton, John Craxton, John Piper, and Keith Vaughan. Minton was a key figure in Neo-Romanticism in the 1940s; his main theme was the young male figure in emotionally charged scenes. It’s stunning work, and well worth a look.
