Ben and Holly

Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom will be live on stage at Richmond Theatre on June 5-6. If you're keen to delve further into this magical world of fairies and elves, here are five fun facts you probably didn't know!

ONE

If you’re a fan of Ben and Holly – or your three year old is – there’s a good chance you’ll also be familiar with Peppa Pig. The two programmes are produced by the same animation studio – and many of the voice actors on Ben and Holly also feature on Peppa Pig. Nanny Plum on Ben and Holly is also Mummy Rabbit on Peppa Pig – aka

TWO

You probably know that King Thistle, Holly’s dad, is often grumpy and hungry. He also hates having a bath. Oh, and his real name is Kevin. Bet you didn’t know that!

THREE

The character of Fairy Mayor is based on the real life Boris Johnson, the former Mayor of London. Fairy Mayor does not like “big people” because they always step on fairies and elves – we’re not sure if the former London Mayor feels the same way about “big people”.

FOUR

Gaston the male ladybird bears many similar traits to a dog. He barks like a dog, loves retrieving sticks like a dog, and pants when he’s happy. Gaston has a brother called Tony, a sister-in-law called Pam, nieces called Amber and Emerald and a nephew called Keith.

FIVE

Nanny Plum is multi-lingual – as well as being fluent in Ladybird, she also speaks  Mole, Aardvark, Ant, Centipede and Alien – and she is frequently called upon to translate for the Gaston.

Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom is at Richmond Theatre on Wed 5 and Thurs 6 June. atgtickets.com
