The best of burlesque
I’m on a mission to uncover the best nights out in Surrey for grown-ups – so the impending arrival of a brilliant and prestigious London cabaret show in Camberley has me very excited. Very exited indeed.
If you’re a fan of cabaret, you’ll already know about The Wam Bam Club. This decadent cocktail of burlesque, circus, comedy and music has been wowing audiences at London venues for well over a decade including the Soho Review Club, Cafe de Paris, the Bloomsbury Ballroom, The Hippodrome and the Royal Albert Hall.
On Friday March 9, they’re at Camberley Theatre – which is one of only a handful of regional show dates and the only show in Surrey. This is a rare chance to see the glitz and glamour of traditional cabaret and Parisian burlesque, as well as the Wam Bam Belles and Buff Boys, without trekking to London.
Hosted by fiery mistress of ceremonies Lady Alex, the show is high on sass, and a little bit naughty but also classy and chic. It’ll make for a brilliant girls’ night out – but blokes will love it too, so if you want to inject a bit of ohh-la-la into date night this would be the way to do it.
Expect burlesque and boylesque, high-flying aerialists and circus acts, talented dancers and lots of laughs. If you’re not 18 though, you can forget it – this show is for grown ups only. Tickets are £24.50.
