Last-minute gift guide

With a nanosecond or two left before Christmas springs upon us like a gambolling lamb – for this is the time of year when hopelessly mixed metaphors are forgiven – I gallop to your rescue with a last minute guide to gifts for your loved ones. Ta daaa!

1. If you’re looking for a gift that will really stand out then consider commissioning a hand-made custom designed rug, like this Sufi prayer rug. This is a gift for someone really special… a piece of art you can walk on. You won’t get it in time for Christmas, but it’ll be worth waiting for. Prices vary depending on design and sizing and whether you chose the hand-tufted or hand-knotted rug, but expect to pay about £2,000. Andre Figueiredo Rugs

2. If there are two things that go together better than Turkey and Goose, it must be Christmas and Cashmere. This gorgeous 360 Sweater cashmere is new in at Courtyard boutique. Courtyard, Guildford

3. Coupe Stack. This tower of perfectly balanced glasses is the most fun thing ever. Designed with a supporting ring inside each glass to ensure they don’t topple, it will take exactly one bottle of fizz. Cheers to that. £55. Taurus Wines, Bramley  [And as an extra treat, Muddy readers will get £10 off. Type MUDDYFIZZ into the coupon section of the online shopping cart, or mention Muddy Stilettos in store.]

4. Looking for a bottle of something slightly off-beat? How about the lovely deep purplish hue of a really good – and very Surrey – sloe gin? Neil Beckett makes Becketts Sloe Gin, made using his own London Dry Gin and sloes. He was the first producer – and now there are only two in the country – to use English juniper berries for his gin – and both the berries and the sloes come from Box Hill. Becketts Limited Edition Sloe Gin. £34.99. Taurus Wines, Bramley

5. This ‘Love Necklace’ by Pernille Coyrdon, is pure elegance. And it’s also available in silver. £70. Quattro Rish, Reigate

6. It wouldn’t be Crimbo without chocolate, and these handmade chocs are utterly divine. Exciting flavours like rosemary and crushed caramel are blended with the finest Belgian chocolate, making these little beauties the perfect gift. They come in rounds, squares, brittles and slims. £8.65 per box (190g). cocoabombon.com

7. If Santa left these gorgeous Ivy Lee Copenhagen Stella Boots under my Christmas tree, I’d be one very very happy girl (are you reading this Mr Muddy?), £199. Quattro Rish, Reigate

8. Have your cat, dog, kids or granny turned into a piece of art, with this unique and original fingerprint art. They can be printed on perspex, canvas or prints that you mount yourself. Prices start at £35. Fingerprint Art, West Ewell
