For a luxurious facial that also delivers, you'll be needing the Elemis Biotec Line Eraser Facial from Luminis Beauty Spa in Reigate. Add a decadent Murad body polish and you've got yourself the perfect pamper session.
Luminis Beauty Spa is in on Church Street in Reigate, right across the road from Laura Ashley. It’s a nice part of town with plenty of independent boutiques and cafes nearby (hello Quattro Rish) – so it’s worth allowing a bit of time for a mooch about if you can. Parking here is pretty straightforward if you go to the Bancroft Road multi-story, just a 2 minute walk away. Luminus is part of a small chain of six stores in London, Surrey, Berks and Jersey.
The salon has been here for five years, so it’s fairly well established and beautifully kitted out. There are five treatment rooms, plus a separate spray tan station and two nail bars which are behind the reception area. It’s spacious, without being vast, and there’s a distinctly luxe boutique vibe.
Matching mid-century sofas sit in the window facing each other, with huge velvet cushions and plush sheepskin throws, and the gold metallic wall coverings bring a touch of sparkle and elegance to the setting. The staff are lovely – my therapist Rehana is beautiful in a classic and understated way, and clearly knows her stuff. If you’re looking for a friendly, unpretentious, professional local salon, this is it.
One of the things I like about this salon is that it tries to offer something different. So as well as established Elemis and Caci treatments and clinical skin brand Murad, plus all the usuals (waxes, mani/pedi, massage, facials, IPL and make up) there’s also a tempting range of body treatments.
If you’re after the full A-star treatment, I’d suggest a body polish followed by a facial – and I guarantee you’ll float right out of there when you’re done! I tried the Murad Pomegranate Polish, followed by the Elemis Biotec Line Eraser Facial – and it was the perfect combination of results-driven facial and relaxing body polish.
Each appointment is unique and starts with a thorough consultation. Strip down to your smalls and hop onto the heated bed – where Rehana body brushed my skin, moving subtly from one leg to the other then to my back and arms, to exfoliate away the tired and dry skin. After the brushing, she cleansed then applied a warmed massage cream and a moisturiser. The Murad products have a delicious scent and the treatment leaves you feeling both relaxed and invigorated at the same time – if that’s possible. And you’ll also be polished perfection. A great way to liven up dull and tired winter skin.
The Elemis Biotec Line Eraser Facial is a rejuvenating facial that – as the name suggests – targets wrinkles. This is an action-packed facial, and one where you’ll see instant results, but it’s also soothing. When I left the salon, my skin was genuinely glowing and I felt calm and relaxed.
Rehana started with a double cleanse followed by a soothing toner, then gently exfoliated my skin before applying a second dose of toner. There’s plenty going on in this facial, including the use of microcurrents which are used to tighten the muscles in the face and stimulate the production of collagen.
Rehana also used both red and blue LED lights to soothe my skin and help calm any inflammation, and applied a marine anti-ageing mask through which she infused oxygen to help with the absorption. While the mask was working it’s magic, Rehana worked her own magic with head and scalp massage.
The mask was removed, and my skin was toned and moisturised, and an eye cream applied. I felt truly pampered and polished – and after taking a few minutes to reestablish my equilibrium after a couple of lush hours on the heated bed, I discovered that my face looked smooth and clear. There was none of the redness, I often get after a facial and I’m pretty sure the lines around my eyes and chin were less prominent.
You tell me. My face looks more plumped and fresh in the picture on the right, don’t you think? And the good news is that it remained that way for a couple of weeks.
The Murad Pomegranate Polish is £50 and the Elemis Biotec Line Eraser Facial costs £93.50 – so probably not a pair of treatments you have every other week. But this is a luxury that also gives results, and having both treatments was bit like treating myself to a mini-spa day.
