The Black Horse, Reigate

Muddy says: Beautifully restored historic coaching inn in the pretty market town of Reigate, serving British pub favourites alongside French brasserie classics.

This pub is gem if you’re looking for a pub with a mahoosive garden. There’s also a big well-lit carpark, so you won’t spend ages circling Reigate looking for somewhere to park!

In the summer, the garden is a big draw – it’s part terraced leading to a large grassy area with picnic tables.

Foodwise, the menu features seasonal ingredients – all cooked from scratch – which are sourced from the best producers both locally and throughout the UK including 30 day dry-aged beef from pasture-reared Cornish cattle, cheeses including Ford Farm costal cheddar as well as produce from a range of local suppliers.

There is also a carefully selected wine list, craft ales and beers and a – like any good pub worth its salt these days – fantastic selection of artisan gins.

I have been three times recently and found the food to be excellent and service friendly and professional.
The two and three course lunch menus are fairly priced and the à la carte in line with other top brasserie type places (a bit steep). It is always busy due to the good food and atmosphere.
Great drinks and wine list, so quite a delight.
The Suntory whiskey is worth trying!
The sirloin steak is a little pricey as you do not get any veg with it, but the steak was cooked to perfection and it was real sirloin not old rump. So all in all a great place to visit
