Nancy Shafee – Flights of Fantasy
Muddy says: Nancy is a talented multi-disciplined arts and crafter specialising in feltmaking, coiled fabric baskets and fine plaster casting. She exhibits regularly in Surrey and hosts workshops in feltmaking and basket making throughout the year.
Having Nancy trained at what is now Central St Martins, Nancy went on to enjoy a career in public relations, marketing and publishing. Her love of crafting remained though, and she now devotes her time to making personal accessories and decorative items for the home in handmade felt, upcycled and vintage fabrics, and fine plaster casting.
Nancy has a licence with The Royal British Legion to produce beautiful handmade felt poppies, with a percentage of the income going to support the charity. She also makes felt seedpods. She is available for commissions, and can make flowers and seedpods in any combination of colours.
COILED FABRIC BASKETS
Nancy has a huge stash of fabrics which she uses to make the coiled fabric baskets. She is available for commissions, and baskets can be made from customers’ own fabrics or in their own choice of colours.
FINE PLASTER CASTING
Painstakingly moulded from hedgerow plants, Nancy’s beautiful fine plaster casts of wild flowers and grasses are perfect for anyone with an eye for understated design. They look beautiful on both plain white and coloured walls and even suit rooms where one might not otherwise place pictures. Most of the designs are pure white, but some have a subtle shading. Individually moulded, each is different, making them ideal as ‘special gifts’ for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries or a welcome to a new home.
