All about the wine

English Wine Week starts on Sat 25 May it's followed by the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills Festival on the weekend of 8-9 June. Here are six events not to miss.

DINE: English Wine Week at The Anchor
■ The Anchor, Ripley ■  Thurs 30 May

Michelin starred chef and chief patron of the Anchor Steve Drake and head chef Mike Wall-Palmer have joined forces with Albury Organic Vineyard for this pop-up dining event. A five-course menu has been put together to compliment five wines from the Albury Estate. Tickets are limited, and booking is a must.

TASTING: English Wine Week Tasting and Late-Night Shopping Event
■ Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking ■  Thurs 30 May

A tasting tutorial of Denbies Premium Vineyard Select Range by a wine expert from the vineyard. There will be special discounts on the night, and a free tasting glass with any wine purchase. It’s on from 4-7pm. Tickets here.

TOUR: Sparkling Vineyard Tour and Afternoon Tea Hamper
■ Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking ■  Sat 1 June

Enjoy a glass of Denbies Sparkling Whitedowns Cuvee as you tour the vineyard to the highest point, then enjoy an afternoon tea on the Denbies lawns. Book here

DINE: Vineyards of the Surrey Hills Pop-up restaurant
■ High Clandon, East Clandon ■  Sat 8 June

A pop-up fine dining experience with a menu that’s been paired to the wines from five award-winning Surrey Hills vineyards – Denbies, High Clandon Estate, Albury Organic, Chilworth Manor, and Greyfriars. Daniel Britten is head chef and Emily Lambert, a bright young thing on the wine circuit, will introduce the wines course-by-course.

FESTIVAL: Vineyards of the Surrey Hills Sparkling Launch Weekend
■ Surrey Hills vineyards ■  Sat 8 and Sun 9 June

The five Surrey Hills vineyards – Denbies, High Clandon Estate, Albury Organic, Chilworth Manor and Greyfriars – are holding open days over the weekend of 8-9 June with tastings, tours and other events. Visit or make a weekend of it and visit them all!

ART: Art and Sculpture in the Vineyard
■ High Clandon, East Clandon ■  Sun 26 May – Sun 9 June

More than 150 works of art will be on show in the spectacular gardens, vineyard, wildflower meadow and Glass Barn at High Clandon. This event supports Cherry Trees charity and marks the launch of High Clandon’s latest vintage Cuvée. A £5 donation per person is requested, which goes to Cherry Trees charity, along witha percentage of sales of art and wine.
