The best Surrey wine bars and shops doing home delivery
It's farewell to Dry January and hello to 'don't mind if I do' February. Here's how to get the best bottles delivered to your home.
While bars and restaurants remain closed for the foreseeable, it doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a glass or two (or several) at home. And the good news is, there are some fabulous local wine bars and shops throughout Surrey who will deliver direct to your door. So you can enjoy your vino from the comfort of your favourite armchair (while also supporting our local businesses). Cheers to that!
The Grape Variety, Chipstead
While we miss visiting cute and cosy wine bar at The Grape Variety (and now also in Walton on the Hill), we’re still able to enjoy a tipple or two from their cellars. The range of wine is eclectic and carefully curated, with wines from all around the world – most of which is not available in your local supermarket. They also offer a distinctive and tasty range of alcohol-free beers and other drink
Taurus Wines, Bramley
I’ve been lucky enough to spend time with the owners of Taurus Wines, Rupert and Felicity Pritchett, and indulge in a little tasting session (or two). Hic!! So and believe me when I say these guys know their wine. There’s barely a bottle in the cellar at 400-year-old converted barn that is Taurus Wines HQ that Rupert doesn’t have a story about. He’s hot on the tasting notes, the vineyard history and pretty much anything else you might want to know about it. (No surprise then, that he’s been picked out as one of the 50 rising stars in the drinks industry.) Taurus offers an extensive range of fine wines, beers and spirits. Delivery is free on orders over £100 that are within 10 miles of the store.
Albury Organic Vineyard, Albury
The organic vineyard has put all events on hold during the current Covid restrictions, but you can still enjoy a bottle (or two) of their awarding-winning fizz, delivered direct to your door. (Ohhh, hello Valentine’s Day!) And if you’re swift, orders placed before Sun 7 Feb will get 10% off (use the code LOVE10). There’s a delivery charge, which depends on where you live, but usually its about £4.95.
Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking
While we love to visit Denbies Wine Estate in person to take in those breathtaking views out over the vines – we’ll settle for a delivery of their award-winning wine given the circumstances. Their red, white and rosé wines, plus the sparkling, are all available to order online for delivery. Or perhaps go for a mixed case and get one of each. Standard UK delivery is £10.95, and there’s 20% off on orders of 6 or more bottles (not including the mixed cases).
Banstead Vintners, Banstead
