Eating in? Top-notch takeaways in Surrey
Eating in never tasted so good thanks to these restaurants, pubs, caterers and cafés in Surrey who are offering everything from Michelin-starred dining to woodfired pizzas and cheeseboards in a box. Here’s everything you need if you fancy eating at home in style.
Laura Scott, Epsom – The private chef, Epsom Supper Club host and cookery tutor, is offering her ‘At Home Dining’ service for collection on a Friday, as well as sourdough and bakes, and celebration cakes.
Fego, Cobham and Banstead – This buzzy chain is open for takeaway with delivery and collection for brunch and lunch (8.30am-4pm) and evening meals (5-8.30pm). It’s gloriously wholesome food with South African overtones.
Sorrel, Dorking – No need to forgo special occasion dining, thanks to Michelin-starred restaurant Sorrel. Chef Steve Drake has launched Sorrel Suppers, available every two weeks on a Saturday. The Cricketers on the Green, Pirbright – A click and collect dining service is available from the Cricketers from their menu which includes woodfired pizzas, pub classics like burgers and fish and chips, and a Sunday Roast on a Sunday.
Giggling Squid, Esher, Farnham, Guildford, Reigate, Weybridge and Kingston – Starting life in a tiny fisherman’s cottage in Brighton in 2002, Giggling Squid began with a simple idea: to cook ‘simple and fresh Thai food’ and now has outposts across the country, including six in Surrey. The restaurant is offering takeaway for collection or delivery with plenty of great options including curries, salads and noodle dishes – many of them vegan, veggie and gluten free.
The Mitre Hotel, Hampton Court – A selection of favourites is on offer to takeaway from The Mitre including the cauliflower popcorn, vegan friendly miso fried tofu and duck Shepherd’s pie. It’s open, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for collection only. Order online and collect your order from 5pm-8pm at the restaurant entrance.
Two Ducks, St John’s – Swing past Two Ducks, the gorgeous lifestyle store in St John’s for a coffee, hot chocolate or tea pigs tea and a slice (ore two) of homemade cake. You can’t browse the gift and fashion range in-store, but it’s all available online. It’s open for coffee and cake from 9.30am-2.30pm on weekdays and from 9.30am-4pm on Saturday.
One One Four, Teddington – Fancy five courses? A 5-course takeaway menu is on offer from One One Four every Friday and Saturdays for collection and delivery. The menu will change every two weeks with a different theme. Bookings open on the website at 8am on a Monday. Cost is £30 a head, plus an additional £25 if you fancy ordering paired drinks as well.
The Grape Variety, Chipstead – If you’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a cheeseboard from The Grape Variety in Chipstead, you’ll be thrilled to know they also do a delivery service. Their delicious cheese boxes are filled with tasty nibbles, crackers, fresh fruit and chutney. The cost is £28 for pick up, or £35 for delivery within a 5 mile radius of the Chipstead store. The King’s Arms, Egham – The pub is offering the Grosvenor At Home range – meal kits with all the ingredients you’ll need to create fab meals for two. There’s a Full English breakfast box, a Brunch Treat, a Burns Night gift box plus a Staying Inn British Pork Belly box. And if cocktails are more your thing, there’s a Winter Cocktail gift box. The Tipsy Pigs, Guildford – The team behind the Seasons cafés in Guildford and Woking are offering at home dinners for delivery (within 15 miles of Guildford) on a Friday and Saturday. Menus change weekly and vary between Tex Mex, Italian and Home Comforts. All you have to do is heat and serve. Place your orders via email.
Cullenders Parkside, Reigate – As well as being open for takeaway every Wednesday to Sunday from 9am-2pm, Cullenders has also launched a home dining menu. It’s available from Thursday to Sunday for collection with three courses for £25 per person.
Island House, Reigate – The brand new restaurant and bar has launched Island House at Home. It’s available on Friday and Saturday evenings, and orders can be made up of a combination of dishes and drinks from the restaurant’s Takeaway, Supper Club and Cocktail Club Menus.
The Plough, Effingham – Offering a takeaway service on Friday and Saturdays between 6-9pm. The menu includes pub classics like steak and ale pie, beer-battered fish and chips and burgers.
