'Tis the season to eat, drink and be merry - and whether it's traditional festive fare or something more exotic like French or Japanese we've sussed the best places to go.

Love it traditional or perhaps you like a festive meal that goes against the grain? Here are 15 great places in Surrey serving up gorgeous seasonal delights – from country house hotels to town-centre cafés.

Lingfield Park, Lingfield

Venue: Lingfield Park is situated in the heart of a beautiful 450-acre estate in Surrey, on the border with Sussex & Kent.
On the menu: Lap up a day of racing from the comfort of the banqueting suite whilst enjoying a traditional two course Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, festive decorations and crackers, and dedicated hospitality service.
What else? In addition to fun-filled race days, Lingfield Park offers a 18-hole golf course, spa and hotel.

Beaverbrook, Leatherhead

Venue: The late-Victorian mansion is set in 470 acres of beautiful grounds and woodlands in the Surrey countryside.
On the menu: Roasted mushroom and chestnut soup, roast turkey with all the trimmings and an artisan Italian cheeseboard sound good to you? These are just some of the options! If traditional isn’t your thing, Italian and Japanese Christmas menus are also available.
What else? In addition to a hotel and spa, why not try a cooking class?

Warren House, Kingston

Venue: Warren House sits in a peaceful and secluded area of the exclusive Coombe Estate.
On the menu: A breadth of packages on offer have different menus that feature pan fried sea bass, roasted bronze-feather Norfolk turkey and roasted butternut squash and ginger crumble, to name just a few dishes.
What else? Stay over for a special night in an idyllic grade II listed building.

Runnymede on Thames, Egham

Venue: Situated on the banks of the River Thames, this contemporary four-star hotel is a stone’s throw away from Windsor.
On the menu: Party nights in stunning riverside restaurant Leftbank include two glasses of fizz in the Riverside Lounge, a festive three course buffet with coffee or tea, half a bottle of wine, and unlimited soft drinks. Fancy something lighter? Try the festive afternoon tea!
What else? Add an overnight stay and a spa treat as an extra special Christmas treat.

The Running Horses, Mickleham

Venue: This 16th century inn is steeped in history, nestled in the countryside village of Mickleham.
On the menu: This menu has got us drooling – in addition to the traditional regulars, roasted cauliflower and caramelised onion tart, warm apple, pear and almond tart and a cinnamon creme brulee are all on offer.
What else? Why not add an overnight stay and drinks package to your Christmas day feast?

Fego, Banstead and Cobham

Venue: Fego is a modern European restaurant with branches in Banstead and Cobham.
Menu: Forget a measly three course meal – why not four? This festive feast start at £28 per person. Our picks are grilled goat’s cheese, roast beef sirloin and bucks fizz cheesecake, just in case you were wondering!
What else? Fancy hiring Fego for an event? You can get a live DJ or artist to throw into the mix.

Fox and Hounds, Englefield Green

Venue: The Fox and Hounds resides in the village of Englefield Green, just outside of Egham.
Menu: Celebrate Christmas in style with a five course meal with champagne. Monkfish wrapped in prosciutto, spiced orange panna cotta and the beef fillet wellington have all got us salivating!
What else? In addition to Christmas Day, why not book your Christmas party here too?

The Merry Harriers, Hambledon

Venue: This 16th century inn is one of the most unique pubs in Surrey thanks to its shepherd huts and llamas!
Menu: Light Cheddar Cheese Dumplings with radish, beetroot and butterbean broth, black forest parfait, celeriac and white truffle soup… Yes please.
What else? Merry Harriers offers a few different weekend packages in December. Why not book a 2 night stay with a glass of bubbly on arrival, a full English breakfast, 3 course dinner on one evening, a winter morning llama trek including pub lunch? Sounds fab to us.

The Stag on the River, near Godalming

Venue: This historic riverside pub and B&B in Godalming overlooks the River Wey.
Menu: Pick from a two, three or four course meal with scrumptious plates on the menu including smoked salmon and chive tart, roast turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding with brandy sauce.
What else? Stay overnight in one of the 7 beautiful en-suite rooms complete with king-size beds, fluffy bathrobes, crisp white linen and luxury ESPA toiletries.

The White Horse, Hascombe

Venue: This 16th-century coaching inn is steeped in history in the heart of the Surrey Hills.
Menu: Offering two or three courses, we love the sound of the red lentil, carrot and coconut soup, roasted venison & streaky bacon, brussel tops, parsnip purée, red currant jus, and, of course, the dark chocolate fondant, Baileys and white chocolate cream with mandarin sorbet. Yum!
What else? The inn works with local wine merchant, Taurus Wines, to put together its seasonal wine list.

The Cricketers, Cobham

Venue: The Cricketers has inglenook fireplaces aplenty, cosy nooks and comfy armchairs to settle down in.
Menu: Whether its Christmas Day or the work’s Christmas party, there’s a delicious menu to fit your need. We’ve got our eye on the slow cooked beef bourguignon and chocolate and citrus orange cup.
What else? Dive into the pub’s extensive wine, beer and ale lists.

The Queen’s Head, Weybridge

Venue: This pub has cosy snugs, warming fireplaces and an open kitchen.
Menu: We’ll take the winter spiced bread and butter pudding, free range bronze roast turkey and chestnut stuffing, and classic prawn cocktail, maybe not in that order!
What else? The menus feature French brasserie dishes with an English pub twist, and the chefs cook everything fresh on the premises.

La Barbe, Reigate

Venue: This impressive French restaurant is based in the heart of Reigate.
Menu: Catering to parties, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day lunch, we are in love with the sound of the pan-fried fillet of beef, red wine and shallot sauce with the almond, hazelnut and caramel Christmas log for afters.
What else? Kids eat free on at weekend lunchtimes!

One One Four, Teddington

Venue: One One Four is a neighbourhood restaurant located in the heart of Teddington High Street that prides itself in its ‘city meet country’ location.
Menu: Aside from the traditional festive foods, we are intrigued by the gingerbread crème brulee and the pumpkin tortellini.
What else? Why not add a gin tasting experience to your festive lunch?

No 97, Surbiton

Venue: No 97 is a little neighbourhood restaurant located in the heart of leafy Maple Road, Surbiton.
Menu: What is it about the chocolate delice, whiskey, cocoa nib and clementine that has us salivating? The salt cured hake is also high on our list.
What else? You have to try No 97’s eclectic selection of wines, gin and innovative cocktails.
