Eat your greens! Get your vegetarian fix at any one of these brilliant restaurants or cafés across Surrey for National Vegetarian Week.
More than a quarter of the main menu at Pho is vegan.

Pho, Guildford and Kingston and Wimbledon

Pho – pronounced Fuh – is the Vietnamese national dish, a rice noodle bowl served with loads of herbs. At the restaurant Pho, the dish comes with tofu or mushrooms, or both (as well as fish and options). Elsewhere on the menu there are plenty of plant-based choices including the hot and spice soups, the super green and spicy green ‘house special’ broths, and veggie stirfries and Vietnamese salads.

The Giggling Squid, Weybridge, Reigate, Esher, Guildford, Farnham, Kingston, Wimbledon

Starting life in a tiny fisherman’s cottage in Brighton back in 2002, Giggling Squid began with a simple idea: to cook ‘simple, rustic, fresh Thai food’ and now has outposts across the country, including seven in our area. The restaurant has a special evening vegan menu which includes a selection of stir fries and curries, plus a very reasonable vegetarian set tapas lunch for under £10.

On the menu at Fego: falafel and Isreaeli salad

Fego, Cobham and Banstead

Influenced by South African hospitality and design, this buzzy mini café chain has two outposts in Surrey, both of which offer a separate vegan menu to please your plant based needs. For breakfast get your fix with a smashed avo or a Brazilian açaí bowl and for lunch choose from superfood salads, falafel wraps and meatless patty burgers with all the trimmings.

Cyder House Inn, Shackleford

This lovely country pub offers up great home cooked food. And while the menu offers meat and fish dishes, for vegetians and vegans the likes of grilled asparagus and shitake tacos, Vietnamese sticky tofu, asparagus arancini and vegetarian burgers should tickle your tastebuds. There’s also outdoor dining with a playground attached, so a great option for families.

Wags n Tales, Surbiton and Twickenham

These cafes in Surbiton and Twickenham are – as the name suggests – super dog friendly. But as well as a special menu for Fido, the kitchen serves up a menu of mostly vegetarian fare including jackfruit and bean burgers, Mexican spiced tofu scramble and bean burrito.

Not 100% vegetarian food, but plenty of veggie and vegan options on the menu including tandoori broccoli, courgette chana masala, vegetable samosas and more.

We are both vegetarian and highly recommend Cantina 41 in Church Street Weybridge. Not an overwhelming selection but the food is sensational, particularly the veggie sharing starter for 2!

Also recommend Lebanese Please in Baker Street Weybridge.

Avocado & Lemon in Twickenham is brilliant for veggie eats as is Soul, the cafe over towards Twickenham Green.

This is great – I am visiting Kingston with my Mum in the next fortnight, this gives us some ideas of where to go outside of our usual places, thank you!

I’d recommend Freedom Caffe in Whitehall, Cheam – veg and vegan cafe
Also Sound Lounge in Sutton – vegan cafe in community centre
