  • Summer style sorted

Spring/summer 2017 trends has got fashion buyers, stylists, writers and editors in a flurry of excitement. This season with its nod to all things hyper-feminine, interpretations of the 80s, and no-nonsense utilitarian attitude, is upbeat and lots of fun. So we asked some of Surrey’s top fashion boutiques for their pick of what to wear this coming season.

    • How to do London Fashion Week (if you’re not Anna Wintour)

London Fashion Week used to be a case of ‘if your name’s not down, you’re not coming in’ but these days the biannual round of fashion shows are a much more democratic affair. While you’re still unlikely to find yourself snuggled up front row next to the editor of French Vogue (wearing sunglasses indoors and a ‘whatever’ expression mandatory), there are plenty of other ways to get involved. With the AW17 collections being showcased in the capital from 17-21 February, Muddy’s Kerry Potter – a glossy mag journo escapee and veteran LFW attendee – has some ideas for soaking up the fashion vibes, even if your FROW ticket got (*cough*) lost in the post.

    • Eco fashion: Five easy ways to cut clothing waste

With the SS17 fashion season almost upon us and frosty days forcing us inside, now is as good a time as any to look inside our wardrobes. Not an open-the-door-then-force-it-shut-quickly type of look. But a good honest look at what you wear, and what you don’t.

I found out recently that the average UK home owns about £4,000 worth of clothes, about a third of which goes unworn. And between us we have £30 billion worth – yes, 3-0 billion – of unused clothing sitting in our closets. That’s a lot of clothes. It’s quite shocking isn’t it?

      • Wouldn’t you though?

& Other Stories, the lesser-known sister brand to H&M and Cos, does a killer line of shoes, bags and – well, everything actually. It’s one of those shops I walk into and want everything…
