Let it snow
Heading on a skiing holiday this winter? Here's our shopping checklist for looking stylish on the slopes and in the bar for aprés ski.
If you’re hitting the slopes or the bar at après-ski for an Aperol Spritz, then firstly – lucky you (room for a little one?). And second, it’s an absolute must to look the biz. Right on cue, we’re rounded up the best skiing gear for maximum style on the slopes. Assume the snowplough position, and let’s do this!
Yeah, lady! Goldbergh is one of the most fashion-forward female brands. Everyone’s going to be looking at you in this combo, that’s for sure, so no falling off the nursery slopes or the button lift!
ASOS launched its cleverly named active range 4505 (it's ASOS but in numbers, geddit?) last year and it's pleasingly good quality and brilliant value. These faux fur mittens, with nifty buckle fastening, will keep your digits warm and bring a little glam to the slopes.
From the sister brand of Burton Snowboards, these Anon ski goggles have wizzy SONAR tech to enhance vision and come with an extra amber-tinted lens for cloudy days on the slopes. The goggles come in loads of funky colour-ways, plus you can wear them over your prescription glasses so no crashing into trees.
Indie British brand Planks are set to kit out GB Snowsport this winter with its cool and practical outerwear. It's top marks from us for this unisex parka made with the brand's own recycled RIDEdry10 fabric, plus a detachable sherpa lining in the hood.
Water-resistant? Check. Fleece lining? Check. Totally quirky and inspired by astronauts? Erm, triple check with knobs on! From Moon Boot, these quirky snow shoes are a great option for fashion forward après ski style.
The snow suit
Topshop has been upping its game of late (it's not just for tweens and teens, you know) and its SNO range is great value and super-sleek. We're loving this monochrome one-peice with bang-on-trend contrast stitch detailing. The snow suit comes with a detachable fur hood and also in neon yellow if you're feeling brave *gulp*.
These retro-inspired salopettes with groovy chevron braces and rainbow side stripe, from skiwear brand Perfect Moment, mix fashion and functionality with a breathable yet waterproof outer layer and thermal fleece lining. We love.
the neck warmer
From cool New Zealand-based brand Mons Royale, this reversible, 100% Merino Wool neck warmer comes in loads of different colours and patterns and is double lined for maximum softness and comfort.
Patagonia are top of the eco-game when it comes to the brand's skiwear which gets a big gold star from Muddy. This ribbed fisherman beanie comes in a variety of striking colours and is made from 96% recycled polyester, so you're saving the planet whist you ski.
the style statement
Yeah yeah it’s ridiculously pricy but where else will you find a high performance ski puffer jacket with tassels? Part of Moncler's Genius collection, which sees fashion designers interpret the brand's design ethos every month, this funnel-collared bomber had been created by sportswear pro and head designer of Moncler's ski range, Sandro Mandrino. We're loving the deep purple and western feel for added style points.
You know that middle isle in Aldi that sells everything except the kitchen sink? Yup, it's now stocking skiwear (and at super reasonable prices too!). These water and windproof ski trousers are super practical with side pockets and adjustable waist, plus it’s top marks for the on trend berry colour.
the base layer
Created by three friends with a passion for snowboarding and sustainability, Picture Organic Clothing only uses 100% recycled and responsibly sourced materials. We love this playful camo-print base layer for keeping snug on the slopes.
Ok, it’s not exactly ski wear per se, but we love this punky longline puffer coat from Shoreditch Ski Club - super-trendy and it’s also reversible. Very cool.
the leg warmer
Add a little luxury to your ski apparel with these super-soft bottoms from Smartwool. Made from a heavier, 100% Merino Wool, the leggings will keep you toasty but also have performance-wear elements like moisture wicking and odour-resistant properties. Win, win.
