Wild and woolly
The autumn memo has arrived, and we've found the perfect collection of knits and dresses to keep you cosy and stylish this season.
Recently returned to Blighty from sunnier climes and feeling the cold? I know I am – and how novel it is to dig out a jumper for the first time in months. If you’re on the hunt for new season woollies, start at the top with this leopard print headsock (£39.99) by German brand Seeberger. Made from high-quality Merino lambswool, it’s simple but stylish, and super warm. Go on, you know you want it!
It’s available from Two Ducks (in store and online), a chic womenswear and lifestyle boutique in St John’s near Woking. If you haven’t been to Two Ducks – it’s a wonderful treasure trove of gorgeous fashion and gift ideas carefully sourced from British designers as well as a selection of the best from overseas.
Owner Claire Leigh has made it her mission to scour boutiques, galleries, fairs and fetes to uncover the beautiful, the quirky and the unusual – that you won’t find in any old store. I challenge you leave empty handed.
There is a lot of Muddy love at Two Ducks – here are my other top picks…
I’ve got some serious lust happening for this floral buttoned midi dress (£149.99) by Spanish label Indi & Cold. Just look at her – with her dainty retro print in a muted, autumnal palette. It’s so gorgeous I could kiss it. (Er, not that I do kiss items of clothing, that’d be weird.)
A print midi-dress doesn’t sound like it’d be the most versatile piece ever but, trust me, this little beauty would work for most occasions. Before the weather gets too nippy, I’m dressing it down with a black leather biker jacket and white trainers. Alternatively you can sex it up with a few opened buttons (go on, open another!) , pointy black ankle boots and a fur gilet. Or, go full Seventies vibes with block-heeled knee-high boots and a poloneck jumper underneath. And that’s just for starters.
Two Ducks has a stonking selection of AW19 pieces – check out these gorgeous knits (below). What they have in common is that they’re versatile with a capital V. Tuck into tailored trousers and layer under a jacket, or pull on over a swishy skirt or dress. They’ll also look great with a simple pair of jeans and boots.
In the market for a winter warmer? I love the subtle check – and checks are a huge trend this season – of this black and white coat by Indi and Cold (£199). Perfect for smartening up sloppy school run jeans and trainers.
Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to consign your dresses to the back of the wardrobe. Go for a classic spot like this dress (below left) from Danish label Part Two (£114.99); or let your wild side out with the sparkly leopard print dress (Indi and Cold, £199).
