Summer style sorted

Surrey's top fashion boutiques give their top picks of what to wear this coming season, from the hyper-feminine to the no-nonsense utilitarian

The fashion trends of Spring/Summer 2017 have got fashion buyers, stylists, writers and editors in a flurry of excitement. This season, with its nod to all things hyper-feminine, interpretations of the 80s, and no-nonsense utilitarian attitude, is upbeat and lots of fun. So we asked some of Surrey’s top fashion boutiques for their pick of what to wear this coming season.

THE DRESSES

Bell sleeves are big this season and this Artelier Rocco Nouveau Trellis Dress (on the left) by Nicole Miller with its sunburst pleated body and sleeves hits the right notes of both whimsy and statement. I love it. The dress on the right – the Artelier Trellis Embroidery – is all about statement, with intricate embroidery throughout, long sleeves and a high neck. It comes with a slip for the more modest. Julia from Courtyard, Guildford

THE CARDIGAN

Beat the spring chill in sumptuous style, with this Max et Moi soft cashmere blend cardigan. Designed in an open front silhouette with dropped shoulders and slip pockets, it will lend an off-duty twist to a slim knit and jeans ensemble. Liz from The Gate Boutique, Guildford and Catwalk, Godalming

THE BLOUSE

Prints are huge for Spring and we adore these pretty cotton blouses from Paige… they’re perfect teamed with a pair of skinny jeans for this time of year. Liz from The Gate Boutique, Guildford and Catwalk, Godalming

THE BAG …. and THE SKIRT

THE BAG: One of my top picks this SS17 is our Fox clutch/cross body bag by London label Bell & Fox – from our new handbag collection (£135) at the-Bias-Cut.com. It comes in various colours, but I adore this Leopard Sunshine Pony version. Most ‘quirky’ bags fall down in terms of quality, but this piece was made in one of the word’s leading luxury leather factories, making it as excellent quality as it stylish. The leather is supremely soft, the attention to detail is exceptional and I love the fact it actually has enough space and zip compartments for all my essentials and doubles up as two bags! So it’s perfect for injecting a refreshing pop of colour and print to my look regardless of whether I’m going out for a lunch date with my girlfriends, or off to a party! Jacynth from The Bias Cut

THE SKIRT: I adore this full a-line pleated Sashenka midi-skirt by Baum Und Pferdgarten. From its elegant 50s ‘New-Look’ vibe, to its modern, textured moon pattern, it’s a flirtatious yet sophisticated statement piece. And it is such beautiful quality too. Ideal for wearing to a wedding, the races or a garden party – just add a glass of Pimms! It’s worn here with a pearl knitted tunic by Korlekie and Louise Blue Glitter pumps by House of Spring. Jacynth from The Bias Cut

THE TRAINER

Trainers are a big deal this season and we love our Veja organic and fair trade trainers from France! They are the trainers to go for this SS17, if you look closely you’ll find them on many a Fashion Blogger.  Wear with everything but they look especially fab with skirts and dresses.  Ivy from Quattro Rish, Reigate

THE JACKET

This is our favourite jacket for SS17. It’s from Reiko Jeans. It comes in army green, light grey or carbon grey. We love it for everyday throw on with jeans or with pleated skirt and trainers and over summer floral dresses to add a bit of cool twist. Ivy from Quattro Rish, Reigate
