Me-time makes scents!
Feeling the need to unwind? Want to support a stylish local business this Christmas? Strike a light and relax as hard as you can with these vegan candles from Surrey-based Arbrook Candles.
A London events guru once told me that to make a space feel luxurious and inviting, you should light scented candles an hour before guests arrive. But what if you’re too knackered to have guests around? Or – like me last night – you’re spending your evenings with a scrubbing brush looking at the not terribly relaxing inside of an oven?
The message from Arbrook Candles, based in Claygate, is to light it anyway. A candle isn’t just for Christmas (well actually, it can be, but you know what I mean) it’s a mood enhancer, a ‘me-time’ grabber, a signal that life isn’t just about home chores and functional mid-week dinners.
But most of us still have to do chores, so why not do it with aromas like bergamot and truffles wafting in your air?
The company is run by Jo Coughlan, who took her inspiration from the Surrey countryside – most specifically Arbrook Woods, where she walks her beloved dog every day. With names like Ruxley (lime, basil and mandarin), Millbrook (bergamot and truffles), Albury (almond, vanilla and caramel) and Copsem (pomegranate and plum), Jo has stayed true to her local area.
The candles come in one or three wick candles or votives, in a choice of white or black. But most importantly, Jo only uses only natural and sustainable soy wax which gives a clean burn and high quality luxurious fragrance oils.
There is a true culture at Arbrook Candles that only the best will do – and that goes from the start of the process, right down to the end product.
