The light fantastic
I'm already planning my attack on God's Own Junkyard's neon sign pop-up at Selfridges. I want it all. And I want it now!
I’m an absolute sucker for neon art – I love its cheekiness, its vibrancy and its rock’n’roll vibe – so I’m beyond excited to hear of this super-cool new interiors installation and pop-up shop at Selfridges in London. It’s hosted by God’s Own Junkyard, the Walthamstow-based Bracey family business that’s been a long-time magnet for photography, music and fashion types. You’ll have definitely clocked the late Chris Bracey’s works in movies, music videos and magazines and now his sons Matthew and Marcus Bracey have created a collection inspired by their record collections. With Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Elton John among their clients, you’ll certainly be in good company if you invest in a piece. And if that’s a budget-busting impossibility just think of the Instagram opps, right?
Crazy for retro kitsch? While there’s no dedicated dealer around these parts that I know of, these local interiors and arts hotspots are worth a rummage.
