A dog’s life
These luxury canine cottages, made by The Dog Cottage Company, are a million miles from the bog-standard dog kennel as you can get. We’re talking luxury with a capital L.
Everything from the porch to its cedar-shingled roof to its flower-filled window boxes, shouts country cottage – and of course they are decorated, inside and out, in your choice of classic Farrow and Ball colours.
How very English. And they are, too! These custom-built designer doghouses are designed and manufactured in Britain. They come in four sizes – The Harry, The Milo, The Dudley and The Hugo, the smallest at 4ft6 by 4ft, and the largest is 9ft by 7ft. Or they can be made bespoke to fit your space. The Harry even has a raised sleeping area for smaller pooches.
There’s a full-size door for visitors of the two-legged kind, but for the pampered pooch, entry is – of course – via a deluxe magnetic dog-flap.
Once inside, there’s been no expense spared. Each cottage is insulated and the doors and windows are fully glazed. There’s underfloor heating and air-conditioning – to keep Fido suitably comfortable whatever the weather – and the flooring is in a practical and attractive Pirelli rubber flooring. You’ll also find shelves and pegs on the walls, providing the perfect place to store Fido’s bits and bobs.
As you’d expect, these pet palaces don’t come cheap – starting at £2,450 plus VAT including delivery and installation.
So for the truly pampered pooch, this brings a whole new meaning to being sent to the doghouse.
