Property flirt sprinkled in stardust
Well cover me in sprinkles and call me fairy godmother - have I got a property to set hearts racing. Swimming pool. Stables. Sweeping staircases. It's positively swoon-worthy.
Oh, and did I mention the helipad and the tennis court? Start scrummaging down the back of the sofa people, you’re going to need a few pennies if you fancy yourself living here.
But how many, you ask! You tell me? I’ll drip feed you all the info, and a few clues along the way and you pop your best guess in the comments below.
Ready? Let’s start with some numbers.
Seven. It’s set on seven acres in the incy wincy hamlet of Pootings (I mean, wouldn’t you pay good money just to be able to say you lived at Pootings?!), on the fringe of Crockham Hill Village, near Edenbridge, just a smidge across the border into Kent. Phew. Got that?
Five. Yep, that’s the magic number when it comes to rooms. Five bedrooms, five ensuite bathrooms and five reception rooms. Boom! I could be very happy living here!
The house is a fairly new build – with the best of both world. It’s built in the traditional style with all the grandeur of a period home including high ceilings and a sweeping oak staircase, but with all the trappings that brand new brings.
The staircase is a sight to behold, but there’s plenty more downstairs that will also impress. Let’s start with the huge open plan kitchen / dining room, which links to a massive formal dining room on one side and to a camily room on the other. There’s also a formal sitting room, a study and – wait for it – a gym. I guess you could turn the gym into a kids’ play room, or a studio if you’re not the gym-bunny type.
Head up those oak treads and you’ll arrive at a galleried landing which leads to a balcony terrace that overlooks the front of the property. All five bedrooms are on this floor, each with its own ensuite shower room or bathrrom. The master bedroom also has a dressing room and walk-in-wardrobe, as does one of the guest rooms. Oh la la.
Outside, it’s all just as snazzy. A carriage driveway leads you through impressive brick pillars and electric gates up to the house and a double garage, which has a studio above on the first floor. But if you’re travelling in via helicopter, there’s a helipad on site too.
But it’s the fun stuff you really want to know about – the all-weather flood-lit tennis court and the heated outdoor swimming pool, that has its own electric hydraulic cover. And if you’re not swimming or practicing to become the next Emma Raducanu, you might like to ride one of your ponies. There’s a stable blcok with two stables and a hay store and tack room, as well as three paddocks. The gardens, as you’d expect, are lovely with terraced areas for alfresco dining.
Location-wise, you’re not far from the pretty market town of Westerham in Kent, once home to Winston Churchill, and the bigger towns of Oxted and Sevenoaks are also easy to get to. You can get to central London by train in about 40 minutes from Oxted.
Right then. There’s a lot of house here, and a lot of luxury and a lot of space. So – big hint – it’s going to set you back a few bucks. But how many? Answers in the comments below, then clickety click here to find out how close you were.
