Property flirt

This one's the real deal. A unique modernist architect-designed house channelling the Le Corbusier in droves. Fancy a peek? Me too... let's go.

It’s rare we come across such a contemporary property, but we’ve ferreted out this distinctive and handsome four-bedder with vast views out over the North Downs – and we’re gagging to take a look around.

Usual rules apply. I’ll drip feed you nuggets about the house, and when we’re all done snooping around, you get to guess the price. Shall we?

Situated in Hookwood Park just a few minutes walk from the village of Limpsfield, Woodside is secluded – but not isolated. There’s a real connection to nature here. The house is designed to draw upon the modernist principles of Swiss-French architect Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, known as Le Corbusier. It’s surrounded by mature hedges and a private woodland, and the architectural design has created plenty of big windows that capture the light beautifully as well as the peaceful setting.

There’s a wrap-around roof terrace on two sides. It’s a real sun trap, so the perfect spot for a late afternoon gin, and you also have wonderful views out of the North Downs.

Woodside has been with the same family for around 50 years, for the past 25 years has been following organic principals as much as possible.

Inside, there are four bedrooms, a kitchen / breakfast room plus a second kitchen, a mahoosive living room and a dining hall. Downstairs there’s also a study.

The house flows from the semi open plan dining hall – which features a stunning hand-carved oak staircase – through double doors to the sunken living room on one side and into the kitchen breakfast room on the other. The study also comes off the dining hall.

Every room has a different aspect – taking in the gorgeous natural surroundings – and there’s loads of bright sunlight hitting each room at different times of the day. In the living room there’s a stunning cathedral glass roof – south-west facing – which maximises sun exposure.

Upstairs, the ‘let-the-light-in’ theme continues, and every room is sunny, sizeable and has stunning views, as well as either a roof terrace or balcony. There are four bedrooms, including a master suite that includes and en suite bathroom and dressing room, as well as a family bathroom.

A few final clues to help you settle on the price.

Limpsfield Village has a lovely community feel, with a great village pub, a few independent shops and cafes, and a tennis club. It’s also just five minutes drive to Oxted, which has direct train links to London, as well a lovely choice of shops and restaurants, plus a great Everyman Cinema. Schools in the area are good – including Hazelwood Prep and Lingfield College.

Ready to guess? Go on then – put your price in the comment and then click here to see how close you got.
