If you're a fan of Arts and Crafts, you'll go ga-ga for this exceptional Edwardian house that's just a stone's throw from Oxted town centre. Let's have a peek.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Oxted. It’s a pretty town with some great independent shops and restaurants, as well as the fabulous Everyman Cinema.
And for this month’s Property Flirt, I’m over-the-moon to be back in Oxted and peeping through the keyhole of this exceptional Edwardian house. It’s only half a mile from Oxted town centre, so perfectly positioned too.
Ready for a goosey gander? You know the drill – I’ll take you on a tour, and drop a few little hints along the way. Then you consult with Mr Smith over the back fence and come up with a figure, and the winner gets a romantic night out with Kevin McCloud. Or Mr Smith. You choose. Are you ready to rumble?
Okay ladies and gents. Let me introduce Brentwood, a six bedder tucked down Wilderness Road. If you’re a fan of the Arts and Crafts era, get ready to go ga-ga over Brentwood. It’s packed with period features, and has recently been updated and restored to a ridiculously high spec including a top-end security system.
Let’s go inside. There’s no shortage of space here at Brentwood, with three living rooms downstairs, plus a kitchen / breakfast room and a pretty grand reception hall. It’s set over three floors and definitely has elegance stamped all over it – think high ceilings, intricate cornicing and sweeping staircases – all decorated in a gorgeously classic colour palette.
Upstairs, you’ll find four bedrooms on the first floor – including the master bedroom and ensuite. Two more bedrooms are on the second floor – and like the rest of the house, they’re all immaculately turned out.
The gardens are clearly pretty stunning, with established trees, mature borders and secluded terraced nooks. And lawn. And an area of natural garden. At the top of the garden there’s a double garage that’s accessed from a shared private drive. Above the garage there’s a studio. Yep. There’s lots of love about this property.
Location wise you’re deliciously commutersville, with Oxted station just half a mile away (with direct trains to London in 35 mins) and the M25 handily nearby giving pretty good access to most motorway networks.
Fancy buying yourself into this life? Yeah me too. But how much will it cost you? No cheating – work out the price you think it’s worth and see how close you get. Then check on where your nearest bank is and start planning your raid.
