Wouldn’t you though?
I stumbled across these stunning handmade lampshades the other day, and thought, “Those Muddy readers would love to know about these.” Am I right? You can’t get these babies on the High Street, you know.
They’re by Jo Jones, an Epsom-based designer, who creates handmade, limited edition and bespoke lampshades. She offers UK-wide delivery from her online store. It’s fairly simple: you chose the fabric, then the lampshade shape, and Jo will make your one-of-a-kind lampshade to go exactly with your interior design scheme. Check out these beauties below. I’m particularly keen on the retro telly lampshade on the left. I happen to know the fabric is called Geeky TV and it’s by Riley Blake. And it also comes in a funky blue, and pink. Cool huh!
Jo started her business just over a year ago, nine years after giving up a career in HR to have a family. She had been dreaming of doing something creative, and after a one-room redecoration project where she couldn’t find lampshades to go with her curtains, Jo Jones Creative was born. Some might even call it a lightbulb moment!
Jo says she often uses fabric remnants which means her customers get something quite high end, but at an affordable price. Prices vary, depending on which fabric and lining you choose and the shape and size of shade, but you could reckon spending about £23 for a 20cm round drum up to about £45 for a 50cm drum. Jo has a selection of fabrics from Designers Guild, vintage Liberty, Colefax & Fowler, Harlequin, Sanderson, Cath Kidston and Clarke & Clarke, or you can supply your own.
