SEPTEMBER

Shrewsbury House Prep, Surbiton – Sat 25 Sept
This is a great all-rounder independent boys day school is set on a leafy site in Surbiton with an emphasis on inclusivity and individuality. It has a reputation for its great all-rounder offering and feeds into some of the UK’s top senior schools. The school is known for its ‘have-a-go’ approach with boys getting involved with everything from sports to the school drama productions. Book here

Chinthurst School, Tadworth – Wed 29 Sept
Chinthurst is an independent co-educational day school and nursery for children aged 2-11 years in Tadworth. It is one of two junior schools of the award-winning senior school Reigate Grammar which is currently the top co-educational day school in Surrey. Chinthurst students can benefit from the offer of a place at RGS without having to sit the entrance exam which for many parents and children creates a much smoother pathway to secondary education. Coworth Flexlands, Chobham – Fri 1 Oct
Coworth Flexlands Prep and Nursery is an independent school for girls, with a co-ed nursery and pre-prep. It’s a small school, with just over 130 pupils – the product of a merger back in 2004 between Coworth Park School and Flexlands School. Nestled in 13 acres of beautiful grounds, it’s located between Chobham, Windlesham and Sunningdale. Book here

Rydes Hill Prep and Nursery, Guildford – Sat 2 Oct
Rydes Hill is a Catholic prep school and nursery in the Guildford suburbs. It’s a small school tucked away in a small-but-perfectly-formed site, but there’s everything you could want in a school. And the results speak volumes – the boys and girls go onto a wide choice of excellent schools. The school takes girls from age 3 to 11 and boys from age 3 to 7 – it’s one-form entry, and class sizes are small. There are about 100 pupils at the junior school, and 40 in the nursery. It’s non-selective, and there’s a huge emphasis here on preparation – whether that be children leaving after nursery (although most stay on), boys leaving at the end of Year 2 or girls leaving at age 11. Reigate St Mary’s, Reigate – Sat 2 Oct
One of only a handful of choral schools in the country, Reigate St Mary’s is a lovely independent day school and nursery set on 15 acres of parkland in the heart of Reigate. It’s a co-ed and non-selective school, taking pupils from age 2-11. As a little sister to one of the country’s leading independent senior schools, Reigate Grammar School – where more than three-quarters of RSM students go on to – the school’s academic standards are high. And yet there’s a warm-hearted feel to the school, and an strong sense that community and relationships are at the heart of it. Book here

Cranleigh Prep, Cranleigh – Sat 2 Oct
Cranleigh Prep School is a day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 7 to 13 years (Yr 3 to Yr 8). It sits on a 40-acre site with a dazzling array of facilities and also makes use of the wider 250 acre site that is Cranleigh School across the road. The school is gaining a strong reputation for its excellent all-rounder offering – academics are impressive, music and art are strong and there’s a big focus on sport. Book here

Alton School, Alton – Sat 2 Oct and Fri 15 Oct
Alton School is an independent co-ed Catholic day school in the market town of Alton, East Hampshire, with a spacious campus for 370 pupils of all faiths, from six months in the nursery up to Sixth Form. It’s big on pastoral care Book here

ACS International School, Egham – Thurs 7 Oct (virtual) and Sat 6 Nov
This non-sectarian and non-selective co-ed day school for kids aged 3-18 is set on a 21-acre site just down the road from the Royal Holloway, and a short hop from the Saville Gardens and Great Windsor Park. ACS Egham is an International Baccalaureate world school – and one of four in the ACS stable. The school teaches children from what in the UK we would call the nursery years right up to the Upper Sixth – or in ACS International speak: Pre-School to the IB Diploma (12th Grade). Book here

Rowan Prep, Claygate – Fri 8 Oct
Rowan Prep is an independent day school for girls aged 2-11 in the lovely village of Claygate, near Esher. The school is set over two sites – about half a mile apart – both in a quiet residential area of the village: Rowan Brae is the pre-prep for girls aged 2 to 11 (Pre-school to Year 2) and Rowan Hill is the Prep school for girls aged 7-11 (Years 3-6). Book here

Royal Grammar School Prep, Guildford – Sat 9 Oct
The former Lanesborough Preparatory School has merged with the Royal Grammar School Guildford and the result is the brand new RGS Prep, and all-boys day Prep school. Although aside from a tweak to the uniform and the new branding, much has gone unchanged. Well known for its academic achievements, excellent music programme, and links to RGS Guildford (obvs!), it’s also the choir school for Guildford Cathedral. Book here

Caterham School, Caterham – Thurs 14 Oct
Caterham School is an all-through day and boarding school set on a stunning 200 acre site in the Harestone Valley. It’s a school that comes with an impressive reputation for academic excellence, but one that also gets the pastoral care and the wellbeing of students right. There’s also an excellent offering of extra-curricular activities. Book here

ACS International School, Cobham – Wed 13 Oct (virtual open day, Early Childhood and Lower School), Thur 14 Oct (virtual open day Middle & High School) and Sat 16 Oct (Whole School)
ACS Cobham is an international school day and boarding school set on a sprawling 128-acre campus just outside Cobham in Surrey. It’s non-selective and non-denominational, and takes kids from the age of 2-18. ACS Cobham is an International Baccalaureate world school – and one of four in the ACS stable. Book here

NOVEMBER

Caterham Prep School, Caterham – 6 Nov and 15 Nov
Caterham Prep School is the younger sibling of the Caterham School – the academically and pastorally strong senior school tucked away on 200 sprawling acres in the Harestone Valley, Caterham. It’s a co-ed day school taking children from age 3 until 11, when most progress to the senior school. Book here

Claremont Fan Court Prep School, Esher – Mon 8 Nov
Claremont Fan Court School is a co-ed school for pupils from aged 2 ½ to 18 tucked away just inside the M25 about a mile from the centre of Esher. It’s steeped in history – set on the historic 100 acre grounds of Claremont Estate. It has a growing reputation for academic excellence, alongside strong pastoral care. Book here
