Keep focus and win at life

Want to focus your mind and achieve your goals? A vision board can help with that - here's how.

You’ve no doubt heard of a vision board – a collage of images, words and sentences that represents your dreams and aspirations. It seems like such a simple thing. And yet a board of pictures has the power to help unlock your dreams, goals and your successes. It can help you find clarity and achieve your goals.

Oprah Winfrey is an advocate, Katy Perry is said to be a fan, and so are Jim Carey and Ellen DeGeneres. Success has certainly found these guys – so if you’re looking for some direction and success in your own life sit yourself down and create one. Lara from Vision Boards Surrey tells us how to get started…

What you will need:

• A pen and something to write on
• Comfortable clothes
• Pleasant surroundings
• Plenty of water to hydrate the brain!

Step 1

Find a quiet space to get some real thinking time away from people and distractions.  Lock yourself away and turn off your mobile phone!  If there is a room with a lovely inspiring view then even better!

Step 2

Write the following four sentences down giving space for whatever you are going to write. Use a favourite book to write in so that you can find it easily, or write on post-it notes, prompt cards or A4 paper. Give yourself half a page per question.

• Think of five things that you want to do over the next year.
• Think of five words (only positive please!) that describes you to the core as a person.
• In your wildest dreams, what would be the greatest thing for you to achieve this year?
• Think of three habits you know you need to release.

Step 3

When you have written the questions down, re-read them and before writing anything down, sit quietly for five minutes or more before putting pen to paper. Take time to really think about each sentence and what you are going to write.  Be sure of your answers before you write them down – it may take longer than 5 minutes, so take your time!

Step 4

Make sure you read your answers twice daily and stick them in a place that you can see and is obvious – by your bed, as a screensaver on your phone, or on the fridge.

Step 5

Tick the goals off as they happen (5 things you want to do over the next year, greatest thing for you to achieve this year, habits you need to stop).

Vision Boards Surrey offer workshops in how to create a vision board to achieve your goals.
