It’s that time of year again – baby chicks, chocolate eggs and, of course, the Easter holidays! Keen to get an itinerary of activities organised before the chorus of ‘I’m bored’ starts? Here's our guide of things to do in Surrey.

LITTLIES: Bedtime Stories Online
■ Watts Gallery ■ Weekly until 31 May

Every single sculpture or drawing, print or painting at Watt’s Gallery has a different story to tell – and storyteller Olivia Armstrong brings the magic of the gallery to you with a weekly bedtime story.


EASTER TRAIL: Easter Egg Statue Trail
■ Painshill, Cobham ■ Fri 2 Apr – Sun 18 Apr

Go on a hunt for giant colourful Easter eggs hidden at Painshill in Cobham. The hunt is on every day throughout the Easter holidays, and is included in as part of the general admission price. You’ll have to pre-book your timed entry.


CAMPS: Ultimate Activity Camps
■ Various schools across Surrey ■ Open daily from Mon 29 March

These cool day camps offer a mind-blowing array of activities for 4-14 year olds with a strong emphasis on sports and outdoor games plus creative activities. There are 40 activities to choose from, everything from dancing to football to inflatables to nature trails, swimming and roller racing, and for the little ones when they’re completely pooped, story time. The camps are held at independent schools throughout the county (so there’s certain to be one nearby) – with fab indoor and outdoor facilities. They’re un by Early Years qualified teachers, educators and sports coaches, and bookings are Covid-secure.


OUTDOORS: Outdoor adventure play
■ Godstone Farm ■ Open daily from Mon 29 March

The outdoor adventure play areas are open at Godstone Farm, and the Topshop will be open for hot and cold drinks, pizza, ice cream and snacks. Tickets must be booked in advanced, for timed entry, and will be for morning or afternoon slots.


CAMPS: WildCats Holiday Camps
■ Caterham School and Sports Centre, Caterham ■ Mon 29 Mar – Fri 16 Apr, weekdays

WildCats offer a choice of fun camps for kids. The themed camps include woodland adventure, multi-activity, cricket, hockey, swimming and football camps, plus technology camps. After the long winter weeks inside these busy, friendly camps provide the chance to explore and develop new skills or old.


Clay club
■ Watts Gallery, Compton

Play with clay and learn new skills, techniques and processes inspired by the work of Mary Watts through this series of online artist videos. Simply order the kit online from Watts Gallery which includes clay and tools, then log on to the online tutorials. The kit can be enjoyed by all ages but is particularly suited to 11-17 year olds. Cost is £20 for a single kit or £60 for the family pack (enough for four).


Easter egg trail
■ Albury Organic Vineyard, Albury ■ Fri 2 – Mon 5 April and Sat 10 – Sun 11 April

Albury Organic Vineyard is reopening for Easter! Hurrah! The self-guided vineyard tours will feature an Easter themed trail for the kiddos (with a chocolate treat at the end) while the grown-ups can learn about English wine, while taking in the fab Surrey Hills views. Bookings a must.


Wild Wood Adventure
■ Stoke Park, Guildford ■ Every weekend and some weekdays

Plenty of adrenalin-filled action to keep kids amused this Easter at Wild Wood in Guildford – the UK’s most extreme tree-top and zipline adventure with more than 80 challenges to try. Booking essential.


Polesden Lacey Easter Egg Hunt
■ Polesden Lacey, Great Bookham ■ Mon 29 Mar – Sun 18 April, 10am-4pm

Ah, the good old National Trust and it’s Easter trails. Happily the hunt will go ahead this Easter. At Polesden Lacey, there’s an ultimate animal challenge. Who is the best bunny hopper? Who has the most powerful legs? Discover the answers and you’ll be closer to getting your chocolate prize! Cost is £3 per person, and tickets must be booked in advance. They’re released each Friday for the following week.


■ Mercers Country Park, Merstham ■ Every weekend

Got a water baby in the family? Look no further! Aquasports is set at a huge lake in Merstham and offers a whole host of activities for the kiddies. Kayaking, windsurfing and dinghy club are all on the menu. There are junior and youth clubs, with participation open to kids from age 8 and up!


■ GoBoat, Riverside Walk, Kingston ■ Open daily

Take to the waters for an adventurous afternoon on the River Thames. Rentable for 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours, don your lifejackets and sail down the river to Hampton Court Palace, passing Raven’s Ait and Thames Ditton Island. The perfect picnic situation!


Hatchlands Park Springtime Family Days
■ Hatchlands Park, East Clandon ■ from Mon 29 Mar

Visit Hatchlands Park in these first flushes of springtime. Head out on an Easter adventure in the parkland, take on the challenges and claim your chocolate reward. Plus there is a natural play area with a tree house and bug burrow. Booking is essential.


Easter at Hampton Court Palace
■ Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey ■ Thurs 1 Apr – Sun 18 April

Little ones can set off on an adventure-filled treasure hunt this Easter, with the return of the popular Lindt GOLD BUNNY Hunt. Hidden all around the palace – where monarchs have indulged their sweet tooth across the centuries – will be the Lindt gold bunny.


Easter Drive-in
■ The Duke of Cambridge, Tilford ■ Wed 14 April – Sat 17 April

The ultimate American movie theatre experience is coming to The Duke in Tilford. The big screen will be set up in field next door – simply park-up, turn on your in-car Bluetooth speaker, sit back and enjoy the movie. Easter Egg Hunts at Claremont Landscape Gardens

Head to Claremont gardens for an Easter adventure these hols. Follow the clues around the garden taking part in 10 different nature themed activities along the way, then get your chocolate reward at the end. The trail costs £3 per person, and must be booked in advance.


The Little Gym

Springtime at Wisley
■ RHS Wisley ■ Open every day

It’s a gorgeous time of year to visit the RHS Gardens at Wisley – the spring bulbs are blooming into life. Check out the crocus display on the Conifer Lawn, and the swathes of daffodils too. And if you haven’t yet seen The Four Seasons exhibition, the larger-than-life sculptures by contemporary American sculptor and filmmaker Philip Haas, it’s now on until June 27. Booking is essential, tickets are released on a Monday morning.


Easter Aventures in Nature
■ Winkworth Arboretum, near Godalming ■ Mon 29 Mar – Sun 4 Apr, 10am-4pm

Easter is a special time at Winkworth Arboretum, with nature waking up everywhere you look. Put on your adventurer’s hat and explore 149 acres of woodland with the Easter trail around the arboretum taking part in 10 different nature themed activities along the way. At the end you’ll get your chocolate prize. Advance booking is essential.
