You’ll find a range of handcrafted goodies from the clever folk at the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen – from ceramics, glass and textiles to jewellery, wood, leather and metalwork. The Traditions Of Christmas

Steve Ingman: Young Contemporary Talent from The Ingram Collection

Steven Ingman is the Young Contemporary Talent winner and his work is described as innovative and exciting. He will be showcasing at The Lightbox his response to an artwork from The Ingram Collection. Christmas at Kew

Such a brilliant time to visit Kew as they do the Crimbo thing so well with it one mile sparkling path winding its way through the world-famous Gardens. This year they promise a million twinkling lights, Singing Trees, ribbons of light and a flickering Fire Garden, plus Father C and his elves at the North Pole Village, vintage fairground rides (a fee for that one) and shopping. Christmas at Legoland

Legoland is all twinkly lights and snow-dusted Christmas magic. If you’re in Sarf London over Christmas, Winterville on Clapham Common’s  is well worth a look. There’s everything from an outdoor Ice Rink to a fairground, roller disco and free kids’ entertainment, but there’s lots more unusual stuff than at your standard Christmas Fair. We’re particularly loving the sound of  the Spiegeltent, where you’ll find cabaret, bingo, kids raves and, er, Mexican wrestling. What next, ‘Yoga On Ice’? Christmas Glow at Wisley

Back for a third year running, the ‘Christmas Glow’ returns, but with the promise to be even bigger, brighter and better than ever before. Sparking to life the dark winter nights, there will be fantastical gigantic flowers, dramatic installations and brilliantly illuminated trees. Cézanne Portrait

Brings together over 50 of Cézanne’s portraits from collections across the world, including works which have never been on public display in the UK . Over a working life of some forty-five years, Cézanne made almost 1,000 paintings of which around 160 are portraits and this exhibition offers a fascinating insight into this central aspect of his work. npg.org.uk

 

National Theatre Posters

Theatre posters advertising National Theatre productions from 1963 to the present day are on display in a free exhibition at the building until March. Curated by Rick Poynor, professor of Design and Visual Culture at the University of Reading. it explores changing promotional styles and features some famous productions. nationaltheatre.org.uk

 

Modigliani
■ Tate Modern, London ■ now until 2 April 2018

The Tate Modern’s comprehensive retrospective of Modigliani’s work is quite a treat. During his brief, turbulent life Modigliani developed a unique and instantly recognisable style. His nudes that are a highlight of the exhibition – with 12 nudes on display, this is the largest group ever reunited in the UK. First shown in 1917, police closed down his only ever solo exhibition on the grounds of indecency. Also expect sculptures, and portraits of his friends, lovers and supporters, including Pablo Picasso and his partner Jeanne Hébuterne. tate.org.uk

 

 

Rose Christmas Celebration

Slava’s Snowshow

First Steps Art

Magic Lantern Festival

The Magic Lantern Festival returns to Chiswick House and Gardens for a third year – this time with a Christmas theme. The festival will illuminate the gardens turning it into a spectacular fusion of culture, vibrant colours, and artistic sculptures. Aled Jones

Singalong Frozen

Lost And Found: Blunderbus Theatre Company

Lost and Found brings to life Oliver Jeffers book on stage. This beautiful adaption of a classic children’s story, is about a penguin who turns up at a boy’s doorstep. The boy tries to return the lost penguin home but no one seems to be missing a penguin. So the boy decides to take the penguin back home himself and they set out in his rowing boat, to the South Pole. But when they get there, the boy discovers that maybe home wasn’t what the penguin was looking for after all… Tickets: £10. farnhammaltings.com

 

Winter Walks

Looking for something to burn of all the christmas indulgence? I know I am! Why not wrap up and blow the cobwebs away by taking a stroll in the gardens of Hever Castle where the warm red bark of the Redwood trees glows against the winter sky and winter berries glisten in the frost. Cirque de Lumiere

Visitors will even be able to touch samples of the different types of ‘snow’ used during production, each selected for its ability to float like falling snow, crunch under foot or glisten in the light like ice.
