Calling all wine lovers…
Is this the wine event of the year? A one-day festival dedicated to all things wine served up alongside tipples of gin, artisan cheeses, charcuterie and ice cream. Yep, we'll drink to that!
⇒ NOTE: This event has been postponed due to Coronavirus restrictions. We’ll keep you updated when a new date is announced.
The Love Wine Festival returns to Guildford for its third year – and if ever a festival had Muddy’s name written all over it, it was certainly this one.
This one-day festival – on Sat 21 March at the Guildford Harbour Hotel with two three-hour sessions throughout the day – is a chance for lovers of wine and other fine bevvies to come together to learn, taste and buy.
Wine snobs, this event isn’t for you – it’s a festival aimed firmly at the wine lover. And with more than 200 wines to taste, I think even we at Muddy will be thankful for the spittoons.
The Guildford event is organised and run by Surrey-based wine educator and writer, Heather Dougherty of wine company Red White and Rose, who is supported by the founders of the original Love Wine Festival in Birmingham, Laura Clay and Richard Bampfield.
Between them, these three know more about wine than you or I could ever hope to acquire in a lifetime, and they’ll be hosting wine walks and wine masterclasses where you can learn more about the wines you love, and also the reasons you like them.
The emphasis here is firmly on fun, and helping wine drinkers to broaden their wine horizons.
Wine at the event comes from near and far – from local heroes Albury Vineyard and Denbies Wine Estate, to wines from Brazil, Georgia and Moldova – and just about everywhere in between. As well as wine there will be spirits, cheeses, charcuterie and alcoholic ice cream. And with more than 25 different exhibitors, there is something to suit all tastes.
Your ticket gets you entry to the event, and includes all the sampling once there, participation in a wine walk and the masterclass (you’ll have to book this when you arrive), plus a wine glass to use at the event.
Tickets for this wonderfully social atmosphere are on sale now. See you at the spittoon!
