Superflashy newsflash

Super star appearances, new openings, special offers and a gorgeous swirl of gossip around Surrey!

Stormzy sell-out

In celebration of his new album Heavy is the Head, Stormzy is playing an intimate gig at The Rose Theatre in Kingston this month. That’s the the good news! The bad news is that tickets sold out in a matter of six seconds flat – so unless you were one of the lucky ones you’ll have to hover around outside the theatre in the hope of catching a glimpse of the South London rapper.

The Guildford three

Three new cafés have opened their doors in Guildford – each offering something unique. In Tunsgate, there’s the deliciously indulgent Love Brownies now open for breakfast and lunch as well as indulgent chocolate treats and a range of premium, freshly brewed coffees. In the Shambles, just off the High Street you’ll find Sicilian café Sicool Food – serving up traditional Sicilian feasts. And just in time for Veganuary, there’s the Brasil Vegano Café, Guildford’s first fully plant-based café inspired by Brazil. You’ll find it in Madrid Road, near the back of Guildford Station. Bon appetit.

JANUARY OFFER: Half-price mains

No need to plan for a frugal January! Thanks to the generosity of a group of Surrey pubs which is offering 50% off all a la carte menu main meals from Thur 2 Jan to Wed 12 Feb (excluding Sat nights and Sun lunch). Simply sign up to the White’s Brasserie newsletter by 2 January to receive the offer – then enjoy a meal at any of these lovely pubs: The March Hare in Guildford, The Queen’s Head in Weybridge, The Victoria in Oxshott, The Black Horse in Reigate, The Sun Inn in Chobham, The Cricketers in Cobham and the Barley Mow in Englefield Green.

Opening soon

We’re eagerly awaiting the opening this month of new Lebanese restaurant in Church Street, Reigate by Yalla Yalla founder Jad Youssef. The Beirut-born executive chef grew up in the kitchen and has made it his mission to share his rich heritage. Good news for us, Lebnani will focus on delicious food created with local ingredients including meat sourced from farms in Surrey and Sussex, all served in a relaxing and comfortable setting.  Let the count-down to the launch begin.
