Movers, groovers and gossipers we have news. We’re talking hot new hotel openings and new foodie hotspots including the latest from Gordon Ramsay.
We’re suckers for high thread count bed linen and five-star service, so we bobbing up like meerkats when we heard the Richmond Harbour Hotel and Spa has had the mother of all facelifts.
Situated at the top of Richmond Hill, bordering the beautiful Richmond Park, this 18th century building has been restored to include a serene sanctuary and an impressive spa, complete with a hydrotherapy pool, plunge pool, gym, cardio suite, spin studios and a wellbeing juice bar and café.
Away from the spa into the bedroom (ohh, naughty!), there’s also been a complete redesign with the hotels 90 bedrooms now sporting a sophisticated blend of vivid colour and bold patterns. Four-hundred thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, complimentary gin and sherry and White Company toiletries add a luxe finishing touch.
There’s also a new restaurant – The Gate Kitchen, Bar and Terrace – which looks out over the hotel’s rear gardens and offers all-day dining with a cool neighbourhood-hangout kind of vibe. Food leans towards comfort food, with a strong ethos of slow food and clean eating and a big selection of plant-based and vegan dishes.
All going well, we can expect it to reopen this spring.
Fairmont Windsor Park, Englefield Green
If that weren’t enough, the Savill Court Hotel & Spa in Englefield Green is also undergoing a major spruce up and is will to reopen this spring as the Fairmont Windsor Park.
A multi-million pound refurb has seen the hotel – situated adjacent to Windsor Great Park and Savill Gardens – extended, spruced and transformed into a luxury 210-bed hotel. The new-look hotel will include two restaurants, a Champagne lung, tea salon, gin bar, a ballroom, an indoor lap pool, outdoor vitality pool, treatment rooms, salt room, Hammam, Japanese foot spa.
Beaverbrook Town House, London
Beaverbrook, the luxury country house hotel, spa and golf club – and former home of Lord Beaverbrook – near Leatherhead is opening a London outpost in the heart of Chelsea. The boutique hotel has teamed up with Cadogan Estates involves a cool £25m restoration of two Georgian townhouses on Sloan Street and will feature 14 luxury suites designed by Nicola Harding and a gourmet Japanese restaurant. The city townhouse retreat is expected to open this summer.
Gordon Ramsay Academy, Woking
Gordon Ramsay brings his Michelin-starred expertise to Surrey, opening the The Gordon Ramsay Academy in Woking later this year. He’ll also be opening his first Street Burger restaurant outside of London, on the ground floor of the cookery school which will take over the site of the former Tante Marie Culinary Academy in central Woking. Street Burger offers up a menu of seven statement burgers including vegetarian and vegan options and the vibe is firmly cool and casual. There are also a selection of cocktails on the menu including the Paloma Spritz and the Bramble Negroni.
Hillfield Restaurant and Bar, Bagshot
Pennyhill Park, the luxury hotel and spa in Bagshot, is opening a new restaurant to showcase the very best of Surrey’s finest produce with a strong emphasis of produce sourced from the Pennyhill Park Estate, the Surrey Hills and the wider Surrey county. The Hillfield Restaurant and Bar – named after the earliest historic reference to the land, ‘Pennyhillfield’ – takes over the space that was formerly the Brasserie and the Ascot Bar. It will be open all day – for breakfast, lunch and dinner – and aims to steer away from simple hotel dining to also establish itself as a restaurant for local residents who looking for something authentic and accessible.
