Psst! All the latest news and hot goss
A brand new art gallery and artists' hub, sushi bars, a cocktail bars and a stunning new super spa - here's all the curated, cool and quirky news you need to know this week.
Exciting news for the arts community in Guildford with the arrival of New House, a brand new gallery space and artists’ studios opening next Wed 1 Dec. The new creative and cultural hub takes over a formerly disused building on Bedford Street in Guildford town centre. As well as a contemporary ground-floor gallery space – called the Davies Gilder Gallery – plus a café and bar, there will be 20 artists’ studios providing creative spaces for artists, makers and creators to come together and work. The gallery space will be used to host exhibitions as well as arts events, workshops and talks throughout the year.
Reigate is all abuzz following the opening of the brand new Corzo Lounge a couple of weeks ago in the former Martin’s Newsagent on the High Street. The café, bar and restaurant is part of the popular Loungers stable, which first opened in Bristol in 2002 by three friends who wanted to create a neighbourhood café-bar where they would want to go. Roll on a couple of decades and they now have more than 100 Loungers bars across the UK. The Cosy Club is part of the same group – and Corzo Lounge is most certainly channeling that vibe with vintage style and cosy chic. Think all-day menus with brunch, burgers and tapas, plus cocktails and coffees. Make mine a martini – shaken, not stirred!
Calling all sushi lovers
We’re doing a Gangnam Style dance with news that Kokoro has just opened in Weybridge. Serving Korean and Japanese takeaway, the brand which originated in Kingston, now has more than 40 branches. Bring on the katsu curry, gyoza dumplings and udon noodles. Yum
Let’s go shopping
Good news for people like me who spend a lot of time nipping around the M25 with news that Sourced Market and Kitchen has opened its third branch at the Cobham Services. Inspired by farmers’ markets where local artisan producers, food products and fresh produce can be found in one handy place. Sourced Market acts as a megaphone for small indie producers – expect a curated selection of local produce including condiments from Jam Packed Preserves, chocs from Cocoa Loco, fudge from Mummy Makes, cured meats from Tempus Charcuterie, free range eggs from Chapel farm and gin from Silent Pool and the Gin Kitchen. As well as fresh and artisan produce to take-away, there will be an all-day menu offering up pastries, deli sandwiches, salads and artisan coffee. I’ll see you there!
Spas in our eyes
Fancy a sneaky peek at Fairmont Windsor Park? It’s one of the most hotly anticipated hotel openings in the UK and oozes luxury – so obviously Muddy has been in to have a scout around. If there’s a marble shortage, it’s because it’s all here. But it’s the £120m super spa that caught our Muddy Berks editor’s eye. Work should be completed next month for the hotel’s grand opening on 1 January 2022. Hello new year, hello new luxurious hotel! Wellbeing is very much the vibe: 20m pool with infrared heated bed set in the water, a Japanese foot bath, Himalayan Salt Room with a wall of salt, dark room with heated beds for a post treatment snooze, 18 treatment rooms, aesthetics and skincare from The Face Bible, plus the Greens spa restaurant which will cater for any dietary need you have. There was a whisper the spa may open in December so watch this space.
