Rising Stars 2018

This is an exhibition of artists and makers who have made the shortlist for the Rising Stars award 2018 – and it’s a brilliant opportunity for collectors to learn more about the stars of the future. Past exhibitors have gone on to high profile careers. Julie Massie: Fragile Edges – Winner of Rising Stars Award in 2017: One Year On

Julie’s wall and free-standing sculptures take inspiration from the fragility of the eroding coastline, where she lives in Dorset. Her work is influenced by the changing sea, using delicate edges of the porcelain ceramic shards and colours. She also explores the senses and takes delight from watching people’s reactions when they touch her work. What does it feel like? Will it break? newashgate.org.uk


Mary Watts: Pioneering Suffragist
■ Watts Gallery, Guildford ■ until Sun 2 Dec

To coincide with the anniversaries of enabling women’s right to vote, Watts gallery will be Drawing on new research undertaken by Dr Lucy Ella Rose, exploring Mary Watts as a figurehead of non- militant feminism in her community. Ramster Gardens season open

If you’re ready to schuck off the winter and get a good dose of spring, Ramster Gardens is the perfect spot. With more than 25 acres of gardens that includes woodlands, lakes and more formal gardens, the display is stunning at this time of year. Picasso: Paper & Clay

The exhibition Picasso: Paper & Clay will showcase work spanning almost seven decades of Pablo Picasso’s career, demonstrating his sense of liberation and experimentation across mediums and focusing on two areas of his creativity with works produced on paper and in ceramic. thelightbox.org.uk

Jack Mason & Will Whisson

If this young man looks familiar, that’s probably because he is. If you’re a fan of X-Factor, you’ll already know him as Aldershot’s answer to Ed Sheeran – the busker who made it through to the Judges’ Houses in the most recent series. Jack will be playing a concert at Camberley Theatre with support from indie-folk musician Will Whisson. Rock for Heroes

Love Wine Festival

Exhibition: Out of the Dolls House – 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage and Fashion

From corsets to bra-burning, fashion has been closely linked to women’s equality for well over 100 years.
