Things to do: this weekend

Fri 12 - Sun 14 May

Sunset Cinema: Haslemere – Grease
■ Haslemere Museum Gardens, Haslemere Fri 12 May

John Travolta and Olivia Newton John will be camping up the big screen in Haslemere on Friday 12 May. Bring a picnic, or buy food there. Eat the Street will be on hand selling street food. Gates open at 7pm, film starts at 8.45pm. Tickets are £13.50.

Ruby Wax: Frazzled
■ Farnham Maltings, Farnham ■ Fri 12 May

Ruby’s frazzled! Well, aren’t we all? But unlike me, when Ruby loses it, she does it with style. The actor, writer, comedian, and mental health campaigner is following up her sell-out show (and book) Sane New World with this event to help us understand why we sabotage our sanity with our own thinking. There will be an opportunity to talk with Ruby to explore how the power of mindfulness can be applied in daily life. Apparently, this is you passport to saner living. Sign me up now!

Sunset Cinema: Cobham – Breakfast at Tiffany’s
The Medicine Garden, Cobham Sat 13 May

This is one of my all-time favourite films. Audrey Hepburn is Holly Golightly in this 1961 classic. Gates open at 7pm, and the film starts at 8.45pm.  No alcohol is permitted to be brought into the event. There will be a licensed bar and hot food available throughout the evening. You can also preorder picnic hampers from Blid & Hatton. Tickets are £13.50.

Pasha: Let’s Dance the Night Away
■ Camberley Theatre ■ Sat 13 May

Okay, it’s a long time until Strictly kicks off again on BBC1, so this might be just the thing if you’re in need of a ballroom fix. Pasha Kovalev’s professional dance partner, Anya Gamis, who’s on the US version of the show, is a special guest. Expect energetic music, spectacular dancing and, of course, glamorous and sparkling costumes aplenty.

The 1940s Relived
■ Brooklands Museum, Weybridge ■ Sat 13 May

Brooklands Museum turns back the clock to commemorate a decade of fashion, style and celebration at its annual 1940s Relived event. There will be a vintage market offering everything from original and reproduction clothing, shoes, accessories, books, home wares and original memorabilia. There will also be live music, dance lessons, and a family activity zone for kids. It’s on from 10am-9pm.

The Little Welly Goes Wild
Norbury Park, near Box Hill ■ Sat 13 – Sun 14 May

The event for small (aged four and over) people and their families, and it sells out waaay in advance every year so here’s your early shout out. It’s an epic obstacle course of 30 individual challenges over 3km of streams, woodland and mud near Box Hill, held in conjunction with the Surrey Wildlife Trust. The washing won’t be pretty but you’ll have a blast getting muddy.

The Crafters’ Market
■ Reigate Priory School, Priory Park ■ Sun 14 May

A gathering of local crafters and their beautiful handmade wares. Expect handmade jewellery, stationary, clothes, artwork, wedding favours, and more. As well as a wide range of crafts, there will be a kids’ craft table and a pop-up cafe. It’s in the gym at Reigate Priory School, from 2pm-4.45pm.
