Missing your regular gym classes? Here's 11 of the best on-demand workouts you can stream into your living room from our local fitness heroes.
Missing your regular fitness class and can’t face another jog around the block? (Er, yes!) The good news is that the fitness industry has tapped into today’s on-demand, streaming service culture, and now you can work up a sweat from the comfort of your own living room.
If you’ve not exercised in front of a TV since panting along to a Jane Fonda VHS in the ’80s, rest assured things have come a long way. You can still wear your leg-warmers if you like though.
Tear your eyes away from Netflix and get moving with these streaming fitness classes from some of our favourite Surrey fitness heroes. No excuses now!
YOGA, PILATES & BARRE
Dee Opp Yoga is offering yoga classes via Zoom link-up from her riverside studio in Sunbury-on-Thames. On Tuesday there is Chair Yoga from 9-10am followed by Slow Flow at 10.30am. On Thursday evening, there’s a Slow Flow class from 7-8.15pm. Classes are £10. Dee also offers private one-to-one classes via Zoom – for a reduced rate depending on length of session and circumstances. On Mondays from 7pm there are free classes for NHS workers and prison staff. The Yoga Bar in Twickenham has a range of live classes on offer streamed via Zoom from their beautiful light-filled studio. Classes include Yin/Yang Yoga, Power Flow Yoga, Mindful Yoga, Barre and Pilates. Classes are £10 for drop in, £45 for a 5 pack and £80 for a 10 pack. Click here for the schedule and to book.
Sara Rounce at The Wellwoman Fitness Foundation can help you stretch out your day with classes via Zoom from her home studio in Hindhead. Click here to see the timetable. She also has a library of video workouts, with monthly and yearly subscriptions available; and offers online one-to-one personal training sessions. If you’re pregnant, there’s a Well Bump online programme available.
The Hot Yoga Club in Staines-upon-Thames are live streaming classes via a streaming app, which can also be accessed later if you can’t make the online class. The timetable is posted to Facebook each week – and include Rise and Flow, Pilates, Candlelit Yoga, Sculpt and Core, Pilates and Yoga / Barre Fusion. Weekly class passes are available.
Purebody by Adele is bringing Barre, Pilates and Barre/Pilates Fusion classes to your home via Zoom. Go to Adele’s Facebook page for the timetable and booking information. Adele also offers Holistic Core Restore courses online as well as one-to-one six-week Everywoman courses.
Akram Hot Yoga Studio is streaming yoga classes via Zoom. There’s Dynamic Flow, Inversion Workshop, Hatha Yoga, Gentle Flow and Meditation, and a Family Yoga in your PJs. Whoop Fitness and Wellbeing has gone live bringing Emily Watson’s own energetic brand of dance exercise into your living room via Zoom. Classes are £5 each and are on Monday at 6pm, Tuesday at 7.30pm and Thursday at 7pm. Whoop! it up people! Click here to book.
STRENGTH & TONING
Ride Studio in Cobham is offering a range of fitness classes each day via Instagram Live. There’s a different class each day – from 10am. Classes include Sweat and Tone, Lower Body Burn, Combat and Core… you get the gist.
Martial X Fitness, based in Woking and Dorking, has taken its fitness classes online, offering 1-1 and group online KickFit, yoga, personal training and kickboxing.
PARENT & CHILD
Busylizzy, the family fitness club offering pregnancy, postnatal fitness sessions, baby and toddler classes is offering virtual classes. There’s a full timetable offering two classes live streamed every day via closed Facebook members’ group. Cost is £20 a month for unlimited classes.
