Betty & Maude, Godalming

A carefully curated lifestyle store full of quirky Christmas gifts, cool homewares and beautiful accessories. There’s an ever-changing collection of stock and if owner Tania wouldn’t wear it herself, or put it in her own home, it doesn’t make the cut. It’s online only, and while we do love an IRL store to rummage in – the goodies here were just too lovely not to include on our list.

Situated in West Street, this family-owned department store has been around since the early 1880s. And at Christmas, they go large, so if you want to sort everyone on your list in one local shop – this could be the place to do it. You’ll find everything from men and women’s fashion, toys and games, homewares and beauty essentials. You can’t buy online so it’ll have to be in person. The festive window displays are also worth seeing.
