This year why not give yourself the day off and let someone else cook. So all you have to do is scoff, quaff and open pressies? Here’s our pick of the best local pubs, restaurants and hotels for a cracking Christmas lunch out. Because&#8230; you’ve earned a day off!</p>

<p>Make it a festive staycay at this gorgeous country pub in the village of Churt in Surrey. It&#8217;s a gorgeously cosy pub with roaring open fires and plenty of squishy sofas &#8211; the perfect spot for a tipple on Christmas morning. And there are some lovely walks to be had nearby too. Lunch on Christmas Day is four courses (£120 per person) with canapés on arrival followed by petit fours, an optional cheese board, and then coffee and mince pies. After all that, you won&#8217;t want to do much more than stumble upstairs to bed and put your stretchiest PJs on! Perfect!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-barnett-hill-hotel-wonersh"><a href="https://alexanderhotels.co.uk/barnett-hill/">Barnett Hill Hotel,</a> Wonersh</h2>



<p>If you want to go full on&nbsp;<em>Bridgerton</em>&nbsp;and sweep up a driveway to dine in an historic mansion house this Christmas better book Barnett Hill pronto. If a turkey craving strikes their festive menu for up to six guests is available until December 23, served in the Oak Room. They also offer private dining, parties and overnight stay packages (including a dog friendly option!). Enquire about their festive feasts available on Xmas Eve, 25 December and Boxing Day. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-no15-chobham"><a href="https://no15chobham.com/">No15, </a>Chobham</h2>



<p>Formerly known as The Red Lion this stylish independent restaurant and bar has a personal touch and focus on quality.  They are serving special dinner and lunch menus during the festive season including Oysters and Lobster as well as the more traditional Xmas delicacies. Adults only (over 12 years only welcome for dining), 27 November until 24 December. Three courses from £44/48 (lunch/dinner). Closed on 25 December. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-woodlands-park-cobham"><a href="https://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/woodlandspark/festive-season">Woodlands Park</a>, Cobham</h2>



<p>Your Woodlands experience begins with a chilled Champagne and canapés<br>reception before a delicious Christmas feast with three indulgent courses (plus cheese!) Expect all the usual crowd pleasers and decadent options like pheasant terrine and figgy pudding with lashings of brandy. £145 pp, £72.50 per child (4-12 years).  Why not book a room for the festivities to really unwind? Two night Xmas packages from £1,210 per room. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-georgian-coppa-club-haslemere"><a href="https://www.coppaclub.co.uk/christmas/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Georgian Coppa Club</a>, Haslemere</h2>



<p>Make it a December to remember by booking a table at this chic restaurant with rooms set in this traditional Grade II-listed building. Festivities on Christmas Day start with a glass of Prosecco and sharing food for the table, followed by a three-course lunch with coffee and mince pies to wind things up. Choices include stuffed turkey breast, seared halibut and beetroot wellington. From £95 pp, kids £47.50. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pennyhill-park-bagshot"><a href="https://www.exclusive.co.uk/pennyhill-park/festive/">Pennyhill Park</a>, Bagshot</h2>



<p>Enjoy a top-end traditional Christmas carvery lunch with all the trimmings as Pennyhill&#8217;s roving musician creates the soundtrack to your meal.  There will also be a gift for all the children. A half bottle of wine per person selected by the Sommelier will accompany your meal.  £250 pp, £175 per child (12-17 years),  £110 (4-11 years). Free for 3 years and under.  Special menus also available on Boxing Day. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-great-fosters-egham"><a href="https://alexanderhotels.co.uk/great-fosters/christmas-at-great-fosters-2024/">Great Fosters,</a> Egham</h2>



<p>The original destination for laughter and good humour, (which they say with some authority as a 16th Century mansion!) you can be assured of the most marvellous festive celebrations at Great Fosters. On the big day book in for the Five Course Lunch, £130 pp, £65 per child. You can even book a 2 or 3 night Christmas Package &#8211; the crowning glory of the season which also includes kids activities and falconry on Boxing Day. Price on application.</p>

<p>This boutique hotel’s gorgeous restaurant is a smart move when it comes to fine festive fodder, which comes in the shape of a three-course set lunch (£109 per adult, £54.50 per child) on 25th with a glass of Champagne on arrival and mince pies &amp; coffee to finish. There’s a choice of roast beef strip loin, seared salmon or a butternut squash, kale and vegan feta tart if you’re not a fan of turkey, and the beautiful grounds are perfect if you fancy a refreshing walk post-lunch. The hotel also offers party dining and overnight festive packages.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-star-witley"><a href="https://thestarwitley.co.uk/christmas.html">The Star,</a> Witley </h2>



<p>Take the hard work out of Christmas Day and treat your family to lunch at The Star. Forget all the food preparations and instead head to this cosy pub for a festive feast before ambling home for an afternoon of charades or dozing on the sofa, all you need to worry about is dusting off that Reindeer jumper.<strong> </strong>Christmas Day Menu, £95 pp, children under 12, £45.</p>

<p>Why not head to the Neo-Gothic splendour of this Victorian mansion house hotel for Christmas indulgence? Enjoy exceptional dining, festive ambience and warm hospitality. Christmas Eve&nbsp;Dinner is £135 pp, £67.50&nbsp;per child (4 to 12 years) Christmas Day Lunch £175 pp, £87.50&nbsp;per child. There are also festive dining options throughout the season from £60pp. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-watermill-dorking"><a href="https://www.thewatermill-dorking.co.uk/christmas" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Watermill</a>, Dorking </h2>



<p>If you’re after a cosy pub vibe on Christmas Day, you won’t do better than this sprawling 1930s pub just outside Dorking. Roaring log fires, long wood tables and a 3 course menu that kicks off with dishes like Pigeon with spiced pear ensure this will be a 25 December to savour. Savour mains with options including Beef Wellington, Halibut or the trad turkey followed by hot chocolate fondant. £100pp, children £50. The festive menu starts at £43 in the lead up to the big day.</p>

<p>For a glamorous Christmas Day, this sleek and stylish hotel overlooking the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit delivers in droves. Elegant tables, flickering candles, and twinkling lights set the scene for a traditional five-course menu involving tasty treats such as sharing Four Bone Iberico Pork, Venison Carpaccio and warm banana &amp; toasted walnut loaf. A big fellow in red will drop by during lunch, and crackers. £135.95 pp, children £67.95. </p>

<p>Take the hard work out of Christmas Day and treat your family to lunch at The Drumming Snipe. Enjoy a three-course festive feast which includes the traditional favourites like free-range Wiltshire turkey plus all the trimmings, alongside other treats like venison carpaccio and rare breed beef Wellington. It&#8217;s £95 per person with children under 12 at £45. All you need to worry about is dusting off that Christmas jumper.</p>

<p>Extend the Christmas traditions this year and let the Ivy look after you on Boxing Day. Whether your heading out to spoil yourself in the festive sales or looking to ease that sore head after the big day (without having to do the washing up) indulge with their 3 course festive brunch and a Bloody Mary, from £34.95 pp. They also offer a three course festive menu from £60pp and a special breakfast in the run up. Closed on 25 December. </p>
