Throw in areas of outstanding natural beauty, great education options and easy links to London and Gatwick it ticks all the right boxes. Jen and Maranda made the move with their own families so they know when relocating it’s not just about finding the right house &#8211; it’s also about a workable commute, good schools and a great location.</p>

<p>Finding the right school for your child is a key element when beginning your location search. You may even choose the school first and then work out where to live nearby. Surrey has a wealth of great areas to consider whatever your criteria and budget. For Primary and Infant look at areas like Godalming for Busbridge Junior, Guildford for Pewley Down (Infant and Junior), Farnham for South Farnham School and <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/surrey/cobham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cobham</a> for Cobham Free School. </p>



<p>Weybridge has outstanding Cleeves, plus the towns of Haslemere and Esher both have good state options. If your children are older consider South Guildford for George Abbot and Godalming for Rodborough near Milford, Guildford for Guildford County School, Farnham for Weydon, and Effingham near Leatherhead for Howard of Effingham School.</p>



<p>If you’re looking for an independent education Surrey is lucky to be home to some of the best schools in the country with many award-winning boarding and day options that are specialists in their own fields. <p>Surrey is really well connected if you need to get into the big smoke for work or play. Some of the best towns have a very zippy half-hour trip into London. Esher for example has an average journey of 31 mins, with 54 trains a day, Cobham and Oxshott (35 minutes and 37 trains), Woking (24 minutes and 337 trains a day) Guildford (32 minutes and 150 trains a day) and Godalming (39 mins and 84 trains a day.)</p>

<p>Looking for a slower pace in mid-life? Surrey has some lovely villages for downsizers that have great facilities, including shops, medical centres, vibrant communities, cafés and pubs &#8211; so there will always be something going on. </p>



<p>Shere is a quintessential English village located between the towns of Guildford and Dorking, West and East Horsley are hidden gems, (the former being home to Grade I-listed manor house <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/west-horsley-place-surrey-hills/">West Horsley Place</a>). Seek out Lurgashall inside the South Downs Park across the border in Sussex, Wonersh with it’s wonderful walks on Chinthurst Hill, Cranleigh for its access to the Surrey Hills and flourishing art scene, and Ripley, which is brilliantly located and super pretty.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-lovely-surrey-villages-for-families"><strong>LOVELY SURREY VILLAGES FOR FAMILIES</strong></h2>

<p>If you have a young family your priorities maybe different &#8211; village life and proximity to education options will be important as will sporting clubs and a vibrant high street. Worth investigating are Shamley Green with its farmers&#8217; market and gastro scene, Chiddingfold with its great pubs including the <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/the-swan-inn-chiddingfold/">The Swan Inn</a>, the pretty villages of Wonersh and Blackheath, and Shalford on the River Wey close to Guildford.</p>



<p>Head a little further south-west and you&#8217;ll find Tilford, Frensham and Churt &#8211; all very pretty villages just outside Farnham. Tilford sits on the River Wey and is centred around a pretty village green where cricket is played in the summer months. Churt is a mere stone&#8217;s throw from the Hampshire border, and Frensham is home to the famed inland &#8216;beaches&#8217;, Frensham Little Pond and Frensham Great Pond.</p>

<p>Love your latte? If, like us, you can’t get through the day without a decent coffee you’ll want to be near a buzzy town centre with great foodie options. Other than the obvious <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/surrey/best-places-to-live-guildford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Guildford</a>, take a look at <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/surrey/best-places-to-live-farnham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Farnham</a> a handsome market town that has bags of character, all the amenities and a vibrant community feel. Other places to consider include Shere with its scenic sites of Newlands Corner and the Silent Pool, riverside <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/surrey/cobham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cobham</a> for its celeb spotting, the pretty town of <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/surrey/haslemere/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Haslemere</a> on the Surrey/ Sussex/ Hants borders with its own <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/the-georgian-coppa-club/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coppa Club</a>, Ripley, and <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/surrey/oxted-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oxted</a> which is fast gaining a reputation for its gastro scene.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-surrey-spots-with-a-rural-feel"><strong>SURREY SPOTS WITH A RURAL FEEL</strong></h2>

<p>If a quieter paces is what you crave, we&#8217;ve got some fabulous places in mind. Dog lovers and those that enjoy walking and an outdoorsy lifestyle will want to look at more rural areas of Surrey (don’t worry they all still have great pubs). Great options include Thursley with its famous nature reserve, Abinger Common, one of Surrey’s oldest villages and Peaslake famed for its mountain biking. Puttenham, Shackleford, Tilford and Limpsfield close to Oxted and the Kent border, are also worth a visit. </p>



<p>Or nip across the border just into Sussex and great options are Lurgashall, Lodsworth and Lickfold on the outskirts of Petworth.</p>
