<p><em>Stephen Lehec has been the man in charge at Kingston Grammar for just over 10 years, coming from Aylesbury Grammar in Bucks, where he was head master for six years. Before that, he was at Maidstone Grammar in Kent for 12 years.</em></p>

<p>Reading about&nbsp;student’s achievements&nbsp;and replying with notes of thanks and congratulations;&nbsp;agendas and minutes&nbsp;from governing bodies I sit on, and charities I work with;&nbsp;messages from my wonderful EA&nbsp;reminding me where I have to be and when!</p>

<p>Less than 30 seconds…our motto ”Work Well &amp; Be Happy” It really does what it says on the tin. We live by our motto every day.</p>

<p>One and the same,&nbsp;Mr Kenneth (Jesse) James. An inspirational history teacher, but a fierce disciplinarian as Deputy Head.</p>

<p>English, history and sport&nbsp;were by far the best, and I was&nbsp;terrible at science&nbsp;and was only allowed to study biology.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was&nbsp;all a massive high, except that&nbsp;we lost every cup final&nbsp;I played in.</p>

<p>My&nbsp;MacBook, an Anglepoise lamp, a Lego Marvel mini-figure, and pictures of my daughters. I am paper free.</p>

<p>I read a lot, so this is tough, but probably, childhood <em>Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators</em> (detective series, worth a comeback).</p>



<p>At uni it was <em>The Unbearable Lightness of Being</em> by Milan Kundera. And now still <em>The Spy Who Came in From the Cold</em> by John le Carré</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-the-best-school-trip-childhood-or-current-you-ve-ever-been-on"><em>What’s the best school trip (childhood or current) you’ve ever been on?</em>&nbsp;</h3>



<p>I have been lucky enough to travel the world with the schools I have worked in: skiing trips across Europe, history trips to Prague, Munich, Berlin, Moscow and St Petersburg, as well as sports tours to South Africa and the USA. But I would have to say&nbsp;Iceland&nbsp;is the most amazing trip, and should be on everyone’s bucket list</p>

<p>I have so many favourites but if someone was only going to see one play, watch one movie, and read one book it would have to be: see <em>Death of a Salesman</em>&nbsp;by Arthur Miller, watch <em>The Godfather</em>&nbsp;(parts I &amp; II please), and read <em>The Black Prince</em>&nbsp;by Iris Murdoch. Those three would keep you invested and engaged for a lifetime.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-if-you-want-to-hide-from-the-kids-and-staff-for-half-an-hour-where-do-you-go"><em>If you want to hide from the kids and staff for half an hour, where do you go? &nbsp;</em></h3>



<p>I am tempted to say it’s something I never do, but honestly… about once a year, I find myself going for a walk, out the back of school, through the park and down to a tucked-away little&nbsp;coffee and cupcake shop. The owner is so lovely, and her cakes and coffee are delicious. I do sign out and back in again!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-song-you-sing-at-full-volume-when-everyone-s-gone-home">The song you sing at full volume when everyone’s gone home?&nbsp;</h3>



<p>Again, so many! I love music, and have no problem singing out loud, but probably Taylor Swift’s <em>Shake It Off</em> is the perennial favourite</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-advice-would-you-give-to-a-younger-stephen-lehec"><em>What advice would you give to a younger Stephen Lehec?&nbsp;</em></h3>



<p>You can do and be more than you’ll ever know.&nbsp;Believe in yourself, back your instincts, and go for it!</p>

<p>Don’t worry, just keep doing you. You’ve got this, and have the power to go out into the world and make it a better place for all.</p>
