Charlie Brooks is instantly recognisable as the fabulously scheming Janine in Eastenders whom she played on and off for more than 20 years, leaving the soap for good in 2022. More recently she&#8217;s appeared in the Network 10 drama Lie With Me and treading the boards in productions including&nbsp;“A Streetcar Named Desire” and&nbsp;“All in a Row”.

Charlie started iampro with her brother Ben and his wife Emma&nbsp;with a mission to make the&nbsp;industry more&nbsp;accessible to people, no matter where they live or what their&nbsp;background is.&nbsp;



Charlie lives in Thames Ditton and we asked her about her typical morning as part of our series on morning routines of happy women.



What wakes you up in the&nbsp;morning and when?&nbsp;



I’m an early riser &#8211; I wake up naturally before my alarm every morning!



Do you bounce out of bed or do you need to be dragged from it, still clutching your duvet?



I usually bounce out of bed. Morning is my favourite time &#8211; from 3pm onwards I’m not good for very much, unless of course I’m on stage!



Who else shares your morning space?



My daughter Kiki is usually around in the mornings before she heads off to school.

What’s the first thing you drink and eat?



I ALWAYS have a cup of tea. Usually followed by a banana protein smoothie or overnight oats with lots of nuts and berries



How do you set the mood for the day?



I start with a meditation most mornings, I do go through phases where I don’t do one, but I can always feel it. I’m much more mindful throughout the day if I stick to my routine. I might read a daily reflection, or journal. I always try to do at least one of these things and my day is always smoother when I do.



What’s on &#8211; radio/podcast or TV?&nbsp;



I’m currently watching Dead Ringer and Succession- but not usually in the morning. My go-to podcasts&nbsp;are&nbsp;Diary of CEO,&nbsp;We can do hard things,&nbsp;Desert Island Discs and&nbsp;Super soul Sunday.



Are you an early morning exerciser?&nbsp;



It depends. If I don’t do it in the morning, then I won’t do it at all! But I haven’t been to the gym in months as I’m currently on the road. I walk a lot, warm up for the play and have quite active evenings at the moment, but it’s usually the other way around.&nbsp;



What’s the first thing you do with your mobile – news? Scroll of IG? Emails?



Go to my meditation app. It’s called &#8216;waking up’ with Sam Harris. This then sets me in the right mood and space for checking in with my partners to discuss all the things we have planned for the drama school.

How do you choose what to wear and what’s your at-home/or public outfit choices?



It depends on how I feel! But I usually go for comfies these days, although I do like to add a bit of sass too. I’m not really an outfit planner&nbsp;I&nbsp;just go with my mood.&nbsp;



What’s the first thing you do outside?&nbsp;



Usually walk or get into my car, also buy coffee or do a video for Instagram (not whilst driving of course!)



What’s your beauty and skincare routine?



I am obsessed with the magic cloth &#8211; it&#8217;s £5 on amazon! It takes your make up off with just water and is amazing. I then use Dauphin products. I normally use a hydrating serum and moisturiser.



If you could wake up anywhere and with anyone, who would it be?



At the moment in my own bed as I’m spending a lot of time away from home. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than being at home, cleaning a cupboard and pottering.



When do you let work in your day?



I’m usually my most productive when I’m up early, so I like to get as much done as possible as early as possible. Starting this business and feeling so passionately about making the arts accessible to all is always on my mind! I dive into emails pretty early, check in on what socials need doing and discuss visions for the company with my partners, this is when my brain is active. It’s not unusual for me send messages at 5 or 6am&nbsp;

As I’m travelling so much round the country at the moment,&nbsp;I’ve&nbsp;been sampling breakfast spots all over &#8211; my favourite I’ve found&nbsp;recently&nbsp;is the&nbsp;sweetcorn hash from the Boston Tea Party. It’s SO GOOD! Locally,&nbsp;I love Nice Buns in Thames Ditton &#8211; they do really good breakfasts and it’s such a lovely friendly place to go and either switch off or switch on.&nbsp;One&nbsp;of my favourite things to do is sit in a café, working away. I’m often calling all the brilliant people I know to come and share their expertise on iampro, reading and taking calls.
