The Stag on the River, Lower Eashing

A stunning and historic riverside pub with a great outdoor area, lovely food and stylish rooms.

The Stag on the River is a charming historic inn in the quaint village of Lower Eashing, just minutes off the A3 near Godalming in Surrey. It was once a regular haunt for shooters and hunters, serving up hearty food, fine ales and a comfortable bed.

These days the 18th-century pub hasn’t strayed far from those values with a firm emphasis on quality locally sourced food and great beers, and accommodation in seven beautifully decorated bedrooms.

The Stag on the River is a pub full of character, with timber beams, flagstone floors and mismatched tables and chair in a mix of plaid and vintage leather upholstery. There’s a cosy homely feel to the pub in the cooler months, but its position on the River Wey and fab outdoor terrace and garden make it a brilliant pub for alfresco dining in the summer.

As well as a la carte dining, the menu includes options for breakfast and brunch plus afternoon tea. And there’s a young diners menu with plenty of options for kids.

And there’s no need to leave Fido at home – selected rooms are dog-friendly (you’ll have to call directly to book your dog-friendly room – 01483 421 568) which includes a dog bed, towel and blanket, ceramic bowls for food and water, treats and poop bags. There’s a supplement of £15 per night.
