The Drumming Snipe, Mayford

A warm and relaxing pub in Mayford Village, near Woking, with a large garden and heated terrace. Food is top notch. Muddy loves.

The Drumming Snipe pulls off the clever trick of providing something for everyone.

Family lunch with the nippers? There’s a big garden to keep them busy while you sip wine on the terrace. Afterwork drinks? Head to the large bar. Romantic dinner for two? Make a beeline for one of the quirky horse trailers in the garden. Dinner with friends? Make it the cosy dining room.

Part of the Brucan Pubs collection (alongside The Star in Witley, The Greene Oak in Windsor and The Greyhound in Finchampstead), The Drumming Snipe is is a show-stopper. But we’d expect nothing less from a pub that’s run by James Lyon Shaw who has a glittering CV that started at The Ivy in London.

This is a pub where the food is centre-stage – don’t expect tiny portions, deconstructed dishes, frills or foams – just superb food. Menus are traditional with all the culinary flair you’d expect from a top notch gastropub. Expect seasonal dishes like Jersey oysters, Hampshire asparagus, and Scottish sea trout, plus traditional favourites like slow-cooked lamb shoulder and flat-iron steak.

The Drumming Snipe exudes a handsome elegance with lots of unique spaces that cater for small and cosy gatherings all the way through to large and lavish celebrations.

There’s a warm, relaxing vibe – ideal for a fab midweek meal, delicious Sunday roast or Friday night catch-up. There’s a great selection of cask ales, wines and cocktails to choose from.

The Drumming Snipe prides itself on offering a diverse selection of beers, cask ales from local brewers and ciders, and has beautifully curated wine list offering an accessible range of bottles to suit all tastes and dishes, including a selection of English wines. Or if cocktails are more your thing, there’s a great choice of those as well.
