The Duke of Cambridge is a top-notch gastropub with a lovely garden in the charming village of Tilford, near Farnham.

The food

From the moment you arrive you know you’re onto a winner with the welcoming vibe and seasonal fare. Food and drink at The Duke of Cambridge are locally sourced. From the Clarence Court eggs on the brunch menu to the Devon fishcakes on the a la carte menu, it’s all about supporting British farmers and producers

Every Saturday at The Duke, brunch takes centre stage. Pop in for one of their fabulous full English breakfasts, the ever-popular smoked salmon Benedict, or a burgers. Vegetarians needn’t feel feel left out there’s a good range of plant-based options, too.

On the a la carte menu, elevated classics sit alongside dishes that celebrate the depth and flavours of global cuisine. We’re talking cod and chips with homemade tartare and triple-cooked chips, lentil dhal tadka and Middle Eastern-inspired grilled Cornish lamb.

On Sunday, the roast dinner reigns supreme. There’s also afternoon tea (Mon-Sat, noon-5pm) offering lovely sweet and savoury goodies, a healthy eating menu, and a kids’ menu.

The vibe

With the wood burner, exposed stone walls, rustic beams, timber panelling and cosy furnishings, the vibe at The Duke of Cambridge is home-from-home. Kids and dogs are very much welcome.

The garden

There’s a large garden, which includes a wonderful adventure playground, designed and built by renowned Flights of Fantasy – experts at creating custom-made luxury children’s play equipment. The impressive and environmentally friendly play area was inspired by adventures around the River Wey through Tilford. It’s perfect for letting the kids blow off steam, while you enjoy a tipple alfresco.

There’s a garden barn and grill, too, serving a menu of gorgeous grilled goodies including Cornish lamb or Norfolk chicken flatbreads, heritage beef burgers and grilled tiger prawns.
