The Guildford Institute
An educational, cultural and social community hub in the heart of Guildford offering a place for people to meet, learn and explore. And there’s a vegetarian restaurant too.
Based in a beautiful Grade II-listed building, The Guildford Institute has been on the same site in the centre of Guildford since 1892.
It’s a unique venue offering a wide range of workshops and courses, clubs, music events, talks and exhibitions to the local community. There’s a library which holds both modern and historical volumes, as well as one of the most important local history archives in the area with a fascinating collection of photographs, playbills, brochures and leaflets and other important documents. History buffs take note!
As well as rooms for hire for community groups and organisations, and you’ll also find one of Guildford’s best-kept secrets, V Café at the Institute a fabulous little vegetarian restaurant.
V Café at the Institute offers a regularly changing menu of freshly-cooked vegetarian and vegan food – think leek and pepper frittata with goat’s cheese, vegetable fritters with salsa and Moroccan tagine with couscous.
