<p>Alongside Blackwater River, this park is the perfect place for an afternoon outing. There are beautiful green views to take in whilst enjoying a picnic and a long or a short walk. Kids can be kept entertained by a trim trail or even by doing some bird spotting.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.farnham.gov.uk/things-to-do/getting-outside/parks-and-gardens/gostrey-meadow" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gostrey Meadow</a>, Farnham</h2>



<p>This small and peaceful park is perfect for a picnic. It’s alongside a little river and in the middle of a town, making it easy to go grab some snacks to indulge in. There&#8217;s an excellent children&#8217;s playground, and plenty of ducks &#8211; so it&#8217;s a great one for families.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.epsomcommon.org.uk/">Epsom Common</a>, Epsom</h2>



<p>As a local nature reserve, Epsom common is an amazing area for children to burn off some energy by exploring mother nature. It can get a little muddy but on a dry day, it’s the perfect place to bring a picnic. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Box Hill is a wonderful place to visit, take in stunning scenes of the English countryside on a long refreshing walk. As it’s home to lots of wildlife, Box Park is perfect for curious children to wander and explore. When you get tired there’s a café and lots of spots to sit down and recharge.</p>

<p>This country park is a breath of fresh air. It’s easy to access and a large rural landscape. There are numerous paths to keep a varied view, and you’re even likely to see horses roaming about. Horton Country Park is a great site to enjoy a delicious picnic.</p>

<p>The South Lawn at Polesden Lacey is a glorious setting for a picnic. Once you&#8217;ve scoffed your sarnies, go for a saunter through the formal gardens &#8211; the roses are at their best right now.. If you fancy a spot in the shad, the apple orchard has plenty of benches and is great for games; or Home Farm orchard is a lovely and peaceful picnicking place.</p>

<p>Frimley Lodge Park is a natural beauty on the edge of Surrey. With tons of open space, picnic spots and fun facilities for all ages. It’s nearly impossible for you or your kids to get bored here.</p>

<p>Abinger Hammer &#8211; between Dorking and Guildford &#8211; is your quintessential English village and the green, complete with a small stream running through it, is a pretty as a picture and a lovely spot to catch up on all the goss with your bestie.</p>

<p>The lovely lush West End Green, just outside Esher, is a lovely oasis of calm. There&#8217;s a large green with a pond and plenty of spots for spreading out a large rug and tucking into a posh picnic!&nbsp;It sits alongside West End Common which is a lovely place for walks.</p>

<p>Just off Banstead High Street, this park and recreation ground offers up loads of space to settle in for a cosy natter with a mate. There&#8217;s a play area and multi-use space for kids, too &#8211; so it&#8217;s a good spot for families. Fun fact: the park was named after the wife of a local High Court judge who purchased the land in 1895. </p>

<p>The beautiful 18th century landscape gardens at Painshill make for a lovely spot to picnic. Plenty of winding paths lead you to many a perfect spot to plonk down your rug. There are views and vistas to enjoy, the Serpentine Lake and a pretty vineyard. </p>

<p>Tucked away in St John&#8217;s village, a few miles out of Working, this lovely open space is a great under-the-radar picnic spot. There are woodlands, open fields and a pretty path that runs alongside the Basingstoke Canal so if you fancy adding in a walk as well you&#8217;ve got options.</p>

<p>Plenty of options in Priory Park. Stroll through the gardens or around the lake, pull up a pew by the play area or settle with your bestie on a rug on the lawns. </p>

<p>Pack your cucumber sandwiches and experience Claremont Landscape Garden as Princess Charlotte and Prince Leopold might have in the early 19th century. There are beautiful picnic spots overlooking the lake and grass amphitheatre. And on the weekend, you can hire boats and go boating on the lake. How very English!</p>

<p>With open grassy areas that front onto the River Thames, the Runnymede Pleasure Grounds is a lovely spot for a picnic and riverside stroll to the Magna Carta and John F Kennedy&nbsp;Memorials. Children and dogs can run off steam in the adjacent water meadows where Magna Carta was signed.</p>

<p>With grassland galore and deer roaming free, you&#8217;ll feel a million miles away from it all at Bushy Park. Although do be careful, the deer have learned to approach people in search of food, especially in popular areas such as around the pond and car park.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bring a picnic and find a spot away from the hustle and bustle at Dapdune Wharf this summer. If you are feeling a little more adventurous, why not take a stroll along the towpath and find your own grassy knoll to spread out and enjoy the soothing lap of the water.</p>

<p>Just a few hundred metres from Castle Street in Farnham, you&#8217;ll find Farnham Park &#8211; a 130ha deer park. As well as being a great spot for a picnic, there&#8217;s also the impressive one kilometre tree-lined Kings Avenue &#8211; perfect for a stroll.</p>

<p>With its picture perfect mansion and expanses of grassy parkland Hatchlands is a lovely place to unroll your picnic blanket. For the younger members of the family there are fallen trees to clamber on and acres of parkland to explore. Head to the top of Wix Hill for views of the surrey landscape, down to Sheepwash Pond to sit by the water or grab a seat on the circular bench in the peaceful Courtyard Garden.</p>

<p>Embrace spring in all its floral glory at Limpsfield Common where the snowdrops have been out, wild primroses are violets can be seen, yellow marsh marigolds are opening up and the wild garlic is also appearing. It&#8217;s a lovely spot to settle on a rug and catch up with a mate over a picnic.</p>

<p>Meadows, hillsides and a very pretty lake &#8211; there are plenty of enchanting spots to pitch your picnic blanket and enjoy a picnic at Winkworth Arboretum.  There&#8217;s a natural children&#8217;s play area where kids can play, and dogs are also welcome if they&#8217;re kept on a lead.</p>
