Surrey resident and England rugby star, Chris Robshaw and his classical singer wife, Camilla Kerslake are appearing in the latest episode of TV’s Help My House is Haunted! The former Harlequins captain and his family live in a 15th century mansion in Limpsfield which was apparently connected to a historic tragic drowning and an evil coachman. The rugger star, who is also a Sports Consultant at Hazelwood Prep school in Oxted revealed; “It definitely feels eerie in certain spaces in the house”. Yikes! It’s a very glamorous newsflash this week. Another new East Surrey clinic has just opened in the shape of Beauty Lab in Hamsey Green near Warlingham. The team is offering tweakments, massage and hair (including colour).

Madol Doova, Wallington

We love an excuse to eat so luckily we’ve spotted a newbie restaurant to try out. Sri Lanken restaurant Madol Doova has just opened on the former site of El Nido on Manor Road, Wallington. The new eatery is by Tharanga Ampegama (aka Chef T), who opened the doors in early February. Expect an authentic menu, including a wide choice of plant-based options, and a smashing selection of cocktails. Can’t wait to try!

Park Hub, Oxted

It’s taken about a year, but finally good news comes our way! The new Park Hub will open this month in Oxted’s Master Park. The former cricket pavilion will now be a resource for the whole community as well as as base for local sports. The structure will house a new café, clubs, fitness, wellbeing sessions and tutoring. Book in for classes including Pilates, boot camp, painting and dance here.

Wild and The Moon, Oxted

One of the first wellbeing clients booked in at Oxted’s Park Hub is new local business Wild and The Moon who is offering meditation, soundbath and breathwork sessions. The brainchild of two local mums, their first workshops are bookable at the end of February here.

Fego, Banstead

Don’t miss savouring the exquisite menus from Michelin-trained chef Guillaume Gillan for two nights this February and March at Fego restaurant in Banstead. The six-course Franco-Mexican or Japanese feast is hosted by Table & Candle with optional wine pairings. It is available on Sat 22 and Sun 23 February and Fri 28 and Sun 29 March. Booking is essential.

The Crown, Horsell

And it’s congratulations to the landlords of The Crown in Horsell. The traditional boozer near Woking was crowned in a list of the best pubs in each county by The Telegraph. The newspaper praised it as a “proper pub with a real fire and attractive been garden.” There has been a pub on the site since at least 1785, and its current iteration was built in 1877 after a fire in the thatched roof destroyed the original. The venue also holds quiz nights every Wednesday, an ale festival in June each year. We’ll drink to that!
