<p>The popular Surrey pub and hotel with lakeside views has recently closed for a seven-figure refurbishment ahead of this summer. The historic pub will have an improved beer garden, an outside dining and bar, a new lobby, and a covered veranda. The venue, owned by <a href="https://www.chefandbrewer.com/pubs/surrey/wheatsheaf-hotel">Chef &amp; Brewer</a>, is described as being in a “truly idyllic” location.  And with views that look out across Virginia Water Lake and the surrounding Windsor Great Park, it&#8217;s no surprise. And the really good news? It’s set to reopen in mid June just in time for some Pimms in the sunshine!</p>

<p>Craving a decent coffee on your commute? Well finally there is an option with <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556941316864">Broo,</a> a new coffee shop/kiosk inside Caterham train station. The tiny outlet offers cakes, pastries and sandwiches alongside excellent coffee (and hot chocolate). Hurray!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-priory-farm-nutfield"><strong>Priory Farm, Nutfield</strong></h2>



<p>Muddy award-winning <a href="https://prioryfarm.co.uk/">Priory Farm </a>near Redhill has been busy developing its already amazing family attraction with a new Garden Room Café. Opening soon will be updated outdoor dining and an adjacent children’s play area &#8211; hopefully finished later in April. Complete with their popular tractor that is making its triumphant return, adding a touch of nostalgia to the play area!</p>

<p>It&#8217;s good news in Surrey is for the eco-conscience wine lover. <a href="https://www.denbies.co.uk/net-zero/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Denbies Wine Estate</a> has just achieved Net Zero status to the UK Carbon Code of Conduct standard &#8211; the first and only vineyard and winery in the UK to do so. Denbies initiated a five-year plan to achieve Net Zero status in 2022. And two and a half years later, they&#8217;ve nailed it. It&#8217;s a reflection of Denbies’ ongoing commitment to sustainable and responsible wine production.</p>

<p>In exciting news for active 1-4 year olds, Guildford&#8217;s massive <a href="https://ninjawarrioruk.co.uk/guildford/">Ninja Warrior</a> UK Adventure Park is opening its giant inflatable course for the first time to pre-schoolers. Toddlers will have exclusive access to the popular giant inflatables complete with tunnels, battle towers and obstacles every weekday morning during term time between 9.30-11.30am. Parents will be expected to accompany their children on the course though. So sadly no relaxing in the café this time!</p>

<p>More good news for the youngsters of the county! Merstham Recreation Ground &#8211; north of Redhill and south of the M25 &#8211; is set to get a new play area including parkour course and football pitches. A new pavilion with a café kiosk, toilets, and changing rooms will also be built as part of £3 million refurbishment plans led by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council. The scheme already underway and is set to last around eight months to be completed by January 2025. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-centrale-amp-whitgift-croydon"><strong>Centrale &amp; Whitgift, Croydon</strong></h2>



<p>The rumour mill has gone into overdrive at the prospect of 12 new shops in the busy shopping centres of Centrale  and Whitgift in Croydon. Hoping that it signals the beginning of regeneration in the area, owners have announced Chopstixx, shoe shop Deichmann and jeweller Loupe are among the new retailers coming to the area. Timings are yet to be confirmed.</p>

<p>The De Vere Estate in East Horsley has recently unveiled the first phase of a £1.2 million refurbishment to 51 of its bedrooms within <a href="https://www.devere.co.uk/horsley-estate/?msclkid=b01bd0d4ef701ffa1bf9b6f4e84d4b68&amp;utm_source=bing&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=JF%20-%20Search%20-%20Horsley%20Estate&amp;utm_term=de%20vere%20horsley%20estate&amp;utm_content=Property%20-%20Brand%20-%20()">Horsley Place</a>, its distinctive hotel alongside the historic mansion house. The newly designed rooms have a relaxed and contemporary design, with nods to the estate’s illustrious past. The bedrooms have walk-in showers, classic Roberts radios, Penhaligon’s toiletries and smart TVs. In the suites you’ll find roll-top baths and fluffy robes and slippers, with some also featuring private terraces. Very swanky! Horsley Place is also home to The Hub with meeting spaces for six to 100 people which can be booked individually or all together for exclusive use. Work is due to be completed in June.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-sostrene-grene-guildford"><strong>Søstrene Grene, Guildford</strong></h2>



<p>Guildford will soon be getting a brand new homeware store as <a href="https://sostrenegrene.com/en-gb">Søstrene Grene </a>prepares to open in The Friary. The Danish retailer is set to bring ‘hygge’ to the town in the coming months having already opened a well-received branch in Woking last year. Selling all things interior including furniture, kitchenware, gifts and party decorations it aims to be both creative and practical. The store is set to take over the unit 58-60 which was recently occupied by a&nbsp;Christmas&nbsp;pop up shop. It’s expected to open at the end of May.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s celebrations all round at one of Muddy’s favourite foody pubs <a href="https://surrey.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/the-red-barn-lingfield/">The Red Barn</a> near Lingfield as their chef Hugh Fitzgerald has just been awarded Young’s Chef of the Year. Congrats!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-banstead-cricket-club"><strong>Banstead Cricket Club</strong></h2>



<p>Not everyone is thrilled at the planned expansion of the Pavilion at Banstead Cricket Grounds. Plans to demolish its current clubhouse, (which was only designed to last 10 years but has stood for six decades), and replace it with a modern 2 storey pavilion have divided opinion among local residents.<strong> </strong>While most locals agree that the current clubhouse needs updating, some say the new design is too big and would “ruin the village feel”. Watch this space to see how planned development progresses.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-two-ducks-woking"><strong>Two Ducks, Woking</strong></h2>



<p>And its a sad goodbye to lifestyle store Two Ducks which is closing its doors after six years due to the cost of living crisis on 18 May. The business was hoping to sell but have been unable to secure a deal. We wish them well.</p>
