<p>For amazing and authentic Japanese food, it&#8217;s worth going out of your way to this little boutique Japanese restaurant in Coulsdon. Run by a friendly and welcoming husband and wife team, there’s a set menu as well as an a la carte menu to choose from. You’ll find all of your Japanese favourites from nigiri, sashimi, temaki sushi as well as a robata grill.</p>

<p>This Cypriot restaurant is a neighbourhood gem, tucked away on chic Lesbourne Road in Reigate. It started life only last summer (July 2024) and already has a dedicated local following. Originally called Yia Yia&#8217;s &#8211; named after the owner&#8217;s grandmother &#8211; it&#8217;s recently rebranded to Nisou due to a trademarking issue. The vibe is super welcoming and food is authentic, made from recipes that have been passed down through the generations. </p>

<p>A small family-owned restaurant offering up authentic Mexican food like tacos dorados, jalaquesos, enchiladas and mole with fresh ingredients all sourced from local farmers. There&#8217;s also a cracking drinks list including a changing cocktail menu (margarita anyone?), plus Mexican beer. There&#8217;s a cosy, intimate vibe and the service is excellent. </p>

<p>Tucked away inside Brooklands Hotel overlooking the world-famous Brooklands racetrack, this suave Art Deco restaurant offers great food and an excellent choice of fine wines. It&#8217;s classical modern European fare with innovative choices like chicken and chorizo ballotine, and carrot and pesto gnocchi. Fans of steak, can choose their own big cut from the display fridge. </p>

<p>With stunning views across Buckland Park Lake, The Reverie is an undoubted hidden gem. It&#8217;s open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, plus selected weekday evenings for private dining or intimate dinner parties by arrangement only. It&#8217;s also open Monday to Thursday for breakfast and lunch. There&#8217;s a relaxed vibe, with seating inside and out, and a woodburner to keep things cosy on cooler days. Menus are thoughtful with a lovely choice of seasonal food.</p>

<p>Offering a fresh take on Lebanese food, this bright and stylish restaurant is in the pretty village of Claygate, near Esher. The menu offers a big choice of mezze including fig hummus, fatoush, vine leaves, cheese sambousek and mousskka. It might be an under-the-radar restaurant, but not for long.</p>

<p>Said to be the best pizza this side of Naples, this pizza bar on Epsom&#8217;s high street offers up fresh, authentic food. Pizza is the main event &#8211; made using the freshest ingredients sourced locally in Surrey and Italy &#8211; but the menu also includes lasagne and Melanzane Novella (baked aubergine) plus antipasto and salads. Apparently, the secret to amazing pizzas is the dough &#8211; and at Pizzerium it&#8217;s made with the best flour, coarse sea salt, filtered water, and Italian extra virgin olive. </p>

<p>One of three restaurants on the Denbies Wine Estate, this under-the-radar restaurant is tucked away at the Vineyard Hotel. With large floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the vines, it&#8217;s in a gorgeous spot. There&#8217;s also a wonderful terrace. It&#8217;s open for dinner seven days a week, and you don&#8217;t have to be a guest at the hotel. It&#8217;s a changing menu with offerings like pan roasted Salt Marsh lamb and baked seabass. The Wine Library, next door is perfectly positioned for drinks before or after.</p>

<p>This restaurant is housed inside the former HSBC Bank building in Egham, offering fine dining Chinese food at its best. It&#8217;s an small, intimate restaurant with a seasonal changing menu that takes its inspiration from the Chinese regions. There&#8217;s a warm welcoming vibe, and exceptional service. Expect signature dishes like Peking duck and dim sum alongside soft shell crab, and terriyaki beef. There&#8217;s also a set two- and three-course menu.</p>
