And the best place to live in Surrey is …

Sitting pretty at the foot of the North Downs with a fab indie high street, plenty of parkland and a vibrant community spirit, we have a worthy winner!

The hanging baskets were primped, the shop windows polished and it was a tooth-and-nail contest among Surrey’s finest towns and villages. But your votes in the inaugural Muddy ‘Best Places to Live’ competition have now been counted and …*drumroll*… we’re delighted to announce that the worthy winner is:

Reigate town centre

This lovely historic market town in south east Surrey has it all – buzzy cafés and restaurants, an excellent range of indie stores including fashion boutiques, the wonderfully large Priory Park right in the centre of town and fabulous scenic walking right on the doorstep. If you’re after a good drop of wine, there’s a brilliant wine merchant – and wine bar – in the centre.

And Reigate has the kind of community spirit you usually on see on Get The Midwife. Every year (when we’re not staying home due to Covid restrictions) there’s a bunch of brilliant community events – from food to fitness festivals and fairs. Here, read our full Best Places to Live guide to Reigate to get a 360 on what makes it so special, and check out the final voting results below.

  1. Reigate
  2. Cobham
  3. Brockham
  4. Haslemere
  5. Shamley Green
  6. Oxted
  7. Chobham
  8. Cranleigh

Come and look at Thames Ditton ! We’ve got everything you need. Excellent train line to Waterloo, wide selection of housing, beautiful riverside walks, Hampton Court and all that’s offered there with walking distance (or ferry during flower show!). Independent estate agents who aren’t staffed by uncaring target driven individuals. We have a wonderful caring community with so many individuals giving up their time and energy to make our village special and supportive for all. .

We have a real village atmosphere. Local food stores who offer a excellent service with local farmers market every month and fabulous cafes/ pubs all offering excellent food. Colets a fabulous health club with pool, outstanding facilities as well as day nursery. There’s a lawn tennis club and so many more sports organisations and exercise classes to suit everyone all run by enthusiastic locals. We also have excellent nurseries, playgroups and schools both state and independent.

Groups for all ages too from maternity to seniors. Doctors surgery, dentists and two care homes. I could go on but you really need to come and see for yourself and pick up the village magazine to see what’s going on ‘About Thames Ditton’

Our best offering at this moment is our incredibly efficient vaccination centre. I see so many sitting on benches on our beautiful green after having had their jab (encouraged by our lovely kind local volunteers) looking quietly relieved.. We’re nearly out of it!
