Property flirt

The perfect excuse to ogle other people’s houses and pretend it's us pulling up in our shiny black Bentley. Wanna go inside?

Why Mr Darcy, it’s just so big! The house you shocking lot, the HOUSE.

I love nothing more than a nosey around a gorgeous pad, and Mr Darcy included with the deeds would be a bonus. But let’s not be greedy.

So, do you fancy a look around this beauty? Of course you do. And dreaming costs zero people, so follow me as we turn the key on this stunning former vicarage in the very pretty village of Warlingham. Let’s pretend it’s actually us getting lost in the stunning formal gardens, knocking back cocktails in front of the beautiful open fires or sitting down to work at that big oak desk in the study.

Take a look at the pics below, and read my little snippets about the property along the way, then click on the link at the end to reveal the price and see how close you got. Do you win anything? Er, no. But you get to keep all the glory if you guess correctly. Ready to play?

The Old Vicarage is a super pretty Grade II listed classic late 17th century house – and it’s brimming with period features, most of them dating from around 1674.

It’s a quintessential village house, sitting on about three-quarters of an acre in Warlingham not far from the village green. It’s a house that was clearly built to impress. It spans almost 4,000 square feet, and is set over four floors and includes a large cellar and a self contained annex.

From the front door, the wide hall leads directly to the main sitting room and it’s chock full of original features: panelled doors, sash windows, open fireplaces and beamed ceilings. But there’s nothing fusty about this house, all those large windows keep it flooded with light. Downstairs, there’s also a kitchen with a breakfast room and utility room, a formal dining room and a study or second sitting room.

Bedrooms are always a good indicator of price, aren’t they. And upstairs you’ll find the master bedroom with a dressing room and ensuite bathroom, as well as two guest rooms.

And on the second floor, there’s a fully self-contained apartment with its own external staircase and front door for your drop dead gorgeous Portuguese Manny, shall we call him Alessandro? Yes, let’s.

Now, shall we take a quick shifty outside? You’ll arrive at this house via a gravel in-and-out driveway which leads to a barn with space for two cars. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, and you’ll can enjoy seclusion and privacy thanks to the well-established trees and mature hedges. There’s a large lawned area and a terrace leads directly from the main sitting room.

Sadly though, our tour has come to an end. Time to wake up *sob*! But you’ve had a good look around, stuck your head round the door of the bedrooms, opened a few cupboards… time to guess that price! Were you spot on? Just click here to find out.

£695,000 couldn’t tell what the kitchen was like.

    Why not show the kitchen?
